The zombie impling requires level 87 Hunter to catch and grants 412 Hunter experience if caught in the Impetuous Impulses minigame in Puro-Puro, or 585 experience if caught in Gielinor. It is the third highest level impling in RuneScape, only exceeded by the kingly impling and the crystal impling.

In Puro-Puro, a butterfly net and empty impling jars are required to catch implings and produce zombie impling jars. In Gielinor, players also have the option of catching implings barehanded and without the empty impling jar, which will immediately give players the reward from the impling upon success.

Once these requirements have been met, players simply need to click on the impling to attempt to catch it. However, there is a chance of failure, in which case the character will continue trying to do so until it is caught. The curse spells Bind, Snare or Entangle can be cast on implings to prevent them from moving, each lasting varying periods of time.

Other than the Holy scarab's special move Bone Conjure, looting a zombie impling is currently the only way to obtain a monkey skull, which can be used to make a gorilla greegree that transforms the players into a blue-faced ancient gorilla.

Trivia

Zombie implings were first hinted at in issue 43 of Postbag from the Hedge, in which Zimberfizz casually mentions that Nomad is "up to more mischief than a zombie impling in a butcher's shop."
Zombie implings will say "Braiiiiins!" instead of the usual "Tee hee!".
Zombie implings fly differently than other implings, with their arms held forwards in a zombie-like shuffle.
