FAQ • doc |
Wyvern bones are dropped by wyverns and skeletal wyverns, very dangerous monsters found in the Asgarnian Ice Caves. Wyvern bones give 50 Prayer experience when buried, 175 when used on a gilded altar (with two lit incense burners), and 200 experience when used to worship the Ectofuntus.
Wyvern bones can also be ground up into wyvern bonemeal at the Ectofuntus, or crushed into ground wyvern bones using the "Grind" right-click option or the Telekinetic Grind spell - both can be used to make super prayer potions, though only bonemeal can be used at the ectofuntus. These are the only bones with the "Grind" option.
Players can quite rarely receive Wyvern bones as a reward from the Soul Wars minigame by selecting the Gamble option. Doing this might award a player with 16 Wyvern bones. These bones can also be looted from zombie impling jars.

Cost and XP analysis[edit | edit source]
Bury | Gilded altar[a 1], Chaos Temple, or burying with powder of burials |
Ectofuntus | Cremation | ||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
XP | 50 | 175 | 200 | 225 (Total) | 125 (Prayer) + 100 (FM) |
GP/XP | −475.5 | −135.9 | −118.9 | −105.7 (Total) | −190.2 (Prayer) or −237.8 (FM) |
- ^ This table assumes that two burners are lit while using the gilded altar, and excludes the cost of clean marrentill.
To go from 1-99 Prayer by only burying wyvern bones would take 260,688.6 bones and cost 6,198,141,664 coins. If a gilded altar is used, it would take 74,482.5 bones and cost 1,770,907,808 coins, and if the ectofuntus is used then 65,172.2 bones would be used at a cost of 1,549,553,248 coins.
These are not commonly used to train prayer, as they provide less experience than dragon bones, coupled with an increased price due to their use in creating super prayer potions. Currently, dragon bones cost 2,344 coins while wyvern bones cost 23,776 coins.
