Description: Hunting cobalt skillchompas
Please add tips to the subpage, rather than the article below.

Cobalt skillchompas are level 27 Hunter creatures found at the Tree Gnome Stronghold Hunter area. This area can be accessed via a rock climb found to the north of the Grand Tree, which requires 19 Agility to traverse, or alternatively through a gap in the fence found to the west of the Barbarian Outpost. They are trapped with box traps and give 121 Hunter experience each when caught. Once caught, cobalt skillchompas transform into stackable cobalt skillchompas, which can be wielded to give benefits while skilling.

Up to six skillchompas can be caught per trap, which scales with Agility level. From level 42 Agility, multiple are always caught.

After completing the player-owned farm tutorial, players may obtain cobalt chinchompa farm animals. As with all chinchompas, protean traps do not have a chance to give players this variant of the chinchompa.

Cobalt skillchompas can be attacked and explode when killed. If the attacking player is next to the skillchompa when it explodes, they will be pushed back 1 square and dealt 20 life points of ranged damage (this cannot be mitigated by Prayer). Players hunting these skillchompas should take care, as clicking on one will cause the player to attack it. A player can avoid this entirely by equipping a Ranged or Magic weapon without ammunition, or by selecting the "Hidden" option under the NPC Attack Option Settings.

Using spicy tomato as bait whilst catching chinchompas increases capture rate by 30%.
