# Ripper Demon (familiar)

This article has a calculator here.Calculators determine experience and costs based on real-time prices from the Grand Exchange Market Watch.
For the Slayer monster, see Ripper demon.

The Ripper Demon is a familiar that requires level 96 Summoning in order to be summoned.

It uses melee attacks, with an occasional chance to hit 2 or 3 times per attack like their monster variants. They have a passive effect that increases the damage of the player's attacks by 0-5%, scaling with the percentage of their target's lost life points.

The ripper demon is one of the strongest familiars in the game, stronger than the steel titan (even if the titan is using scrolls, but the demon isn't). However, it is limited to only one form of combat, although this should not be an issue in most cases.

## Binding contract (ripper demon)

A binding contract (ripper demon) is obtained via Archaeology, which is then used to summon the familiar.

## Death From Above scroll

Death From Above scrolls use a variant of the Ripper Demon's instant-kill attack, leaping up into the air before crashing down and striking the opponent once, dealing 200-320% damage of their maximum hit.

## Passive

The ripper demon familiar has a passive effect that increases the damage output of the player based on the percentage of their target's remaining life points. This does not apply to bleeds.

The passive is a multiplier, and it scales with the target's remaining life points from 0% to 5% in the following way:

${\displaystyle M=1+.05\left({\frac {{\text{LP}}_{\text{max}}-{\text{LP}}_{\text{current}}}{{\text{LP}}_{\text{max}}}}\right)}$

where ${\displaystyle M}$ is the damage multiplier, ${\displaystyle {\text{LP}}_{\text{max}}}$ is the target's maximum life points, and ${\displaystyle {\text{LP}}_{\text{current}}}$ is the target's current life points.
The current life points can be written as a fraction of the maximum life points, ${\displaystyle {\text{LP}}_{\text{current}}=f\cdot {\text{LP}}_{\text{max}}}$ (where ${\displaystyle 0\leq f\leq 1}$)

and the relation can also be rewritten:

{\displaystyle {\begin{aligned}M&=1+.05\left(1-{\text{LP}}_{\text{current}}/{\text{LP}}_{\text{max}}\right)\\&=1+.05\left(1-f\right)\end{aligned}}}

• Special attack has been reduced to 1 hit.
• Damage from special attack has changed to 200%-320% of the base attack.
• Attack speed has been reduced slightly.
• The passive effect on the player has been halved.
• Max hit increased from 864 to 1341.
• 6 April 2020 (Update):
• Players can now renew an ancient familiar's timer by sacrificing a binding contract, just as they would with a pouch for a normal summoning familiar.

## Trivia

• When dismissed, the demon uses its last-ditch struggle attack as its animation.
