The 2022 Christmas event was the Christmas event for 2022.

When logging in during 25 December 2022, players were greeted with the following message:

Presents from the Sledge

Presents from the Sledge was added to the Christmas event on the daily reset of 12 December 2022. Postie Pete and Parcel Pete had been working on a new dye, and an accident with said dye had ruined all their paper. They needed help with getting wrapping paper for the presents. They can be found at the north-eastern section of the Grand Exchange with Santa's head elf where the giant cracker from past years used to be.

Players could earn 30–40 Christmas wrapping paper every three minutes while skilling or killing most monsters, with that amount being tripled following Christmas day. Players could also earn 100 Christmas wrapping paper for each key used on Treasure Hunter. These act like other event currencies and may be added to currency pouch. If there was no space in the backpack, they were automatically transported to the bank, or stored in the currency pouch if there was already some there.

Some activities did not give wrapping paper. Known activities included using elite training dummies, training in Daemonheim, fighting TzKal-Zuk's waves of enemies, and making primal extract.

Players can give Postie Pete 200 pieces of the wrapping paper in exchange for a random present–this may be repeated. These presents may contain the new aurora dye and title scrolls. Up to 100,000 paper can be exchanged in one go.

The chance to receive each present from exchanging wrapping paper were the following:

Free daily presents (one outside 25 December and three on 25 December) could be claimed from Postie Pete at the Grand Exchange.

Christmas wrapping paper was obtainable until the end of 15 January 2023, and any previously collected paper can be handed in until 29 January 2023.

Decorations

During the event Grand Exchange in Varrock, Prifddinas, normal trees, and oaks had snow and decorations on them, and the Grand Exchange and Prifddinas had snowfall. Some evergreens were also covered in snow.

Furthermore, the following bosses and other monsters were seen with Santa hats and other decorations:

Some goebies, including players transmogrified into them, the ancient carer, the goebie guard, the goebie scout, the goebie prisoners, and the goebie used to start the Beastmaster Durzag encounter were wearing Santa hats during the event, although these didn't show with their chatheads.

The decorations were removed with the game update on 9 January 2023.
