General Graardor is the leader of the army of Bandos within the God Wars Dungeon. He is one of the last known surviving members of the ourg race, a species of powerful ogre-like creatures who served Bandos' armies, which almost completely died out over the course of numerous wars.
General Graardor can be fought inside Bandos' Stronghold in the God Wars Dungeon. He has no weakness, moderately high defence, and cannot be stunned or poisoned. He attacks with a melee arm thrust that can hit a maximum of 3,000 damage. He also has a Ranged shockwave attack that is capable of hitting all players in the room for up to 1,676 damage. Additionally, he has three minions: Sergeant Strongstack, who uses Melee; Sergeant Steelwill, who uses Magic; and Sergeant Grimspike, who uses Ranged. He is the only monster in the game to drop the Bandos hilt, which is used to construct the Bandos godsword. He also drops tier 70 melee power armour: Bandos armour.
To reach General Graardor, players must enter the Bandos encampment of the God Wars Dungeon to the north-west, requiring 70 Strength. To enter his lair, the player needs to have a Killcount of 40 Bandos followers (unless the Totem of Intimidation is active on Anachronia). Goblins and spiritual rangers are the weakest followers of Bandos, making them the fastest creatures to kill for the killcount.
Obtaining all unique drops will unlock the [Name], Strength of Ourgs title.

Abilities[edit | edit source]
Hard Mode/The World Wakes[edit | edit source]
When fought in hard mode and during The World Wakes, General Graardor has a selection of attacks and abilities at his disposal, which he will use periodically. They are as follows.
Running under Graardor will result in the player getting dealt with 250 damage and be bound for three ticks.
Graardor Smash
General Graardor will yell "Graardor smash!", smashing his fist into the ground and causing rocks to fall from the ceiling. Shadows will appear in the area they are about to fall, and they can be avoided by running away. Each rock deals 600-1000 damage, and being hit by multiple rocks is extremely dangerous.
Graardor Protect
When General Graardor crouches in a defensive stance and says "Graardor protect!", half of the damage dealt will be sent back to the player, similar to Deflect Curses. This is easy to counter by not attacking him.
Graardor Mad
When General Graardor yells "Graardor mad!", he will stop moving and rapidly punch the area in front of him for massive damage. This can be avoided by running behind him and continuing to attack him from there.
The Mighty Fall[edit | edit source]
When fought during The Mighty Fall, Graardor wields a Kyzaj which he uses to attack the player. He has three special attacks in this fight. He will also deal heavy damage to players who stand underneath him for too long.
Kyzaj swing
Graardor holds his Kyzaj to his side momentarily before performing a horizontal swing. This deals 40% of the player's maximum life points in damage if it hits. This can be avoided by moving away from where he aims.
Shockwave
Graardor strikes the arena and creates a shockwave which deals unavoidable damage. This attack deals less damage to the player if they are further away from the middle of the arena.
Arena strike
Graardor slams his Kyzaj onto the arena and breaks part of it off, making it smaller. This deals heavy damage to a player stood on the part of the arena that gets destroyed. He will perform this attack 4 times during the fight - when he's at 80%, 60%, 40%, and 20% of his full health.

Personality[edit | edit source]
Graardor is a warmonger who, as his ranking in his army would indicate, shares the same ideals of his god Bandos; he loves fighting and killing his opponents. Like Bandos, Graardor hates anything that relates to peace, shown during The Mighty Fall where he threatens to crush the player when they mention the word peace.
He is also known to be extremely prideful, refusing to accept defeat. During his stay in the Empyrean Citadel, if asked about the battle in Guthix's chambers, he will claim that he was never there. In the Kyzaj tournament, if the player kills Zanik and asks about the duel they just had, he will state that he "had a bad day".
History[edit | edit source]
Early history[edit | edit source]
Details regarding General Graardor's history are sparse. The ourg race, including Graardor, arrived at Gielinor from Yu'biusk in the early Third Age along with ogres, goblins, and orks. However, it is likely that Graardor was born some time during the God Wars.
According to a biography about him written by a Bandosian follower called Amanuensis, Graardor was about seven to eight feet tall as a young ourg and was unable to partake in the battles that the adults of his tribe went to. One day, he eventually got enough courage to duel the tribe leader and killed him. This allowed him to go to war and also made him the new leader of his tribe. Graardor was eventually prompted by Bandos to visit and raid a nearby town for a bag of gold, which he did not really care about. Returning home with his loot, he noticed goblins who fought for the gold. Graardor used the gold to buy the loyalty of the many goblin tribes, though this did not last forever as his opponents were either too poor or moved away, so he began selling his armies to young gods. He then used the gold they paid to buy more goblin tribes to sell to other gods, though he was never happy with this as he longed for Bandos' voice.
Graardor, during the late Third Age, was one of Bandos' most favoured soldiers. Like many ourgs, such as Yoykrad and Blorgak, his talents earned him many leadership positions in Bandos's army. His strategic military tactics, as well as his simple physical strength, made him an ideal leader. Graardor's physical strength was such that he eventually learned to fight both with weaponry and with his bare hands.
Guthixian campaign[edit | edit source]
Most of Graardor's accomplishments during the God Wars have been long-forgotten. As seen in the FunOrb strategy game Armies of Gielinor, Graardor is known to have actively participated in the Bandosians' efforts to repel Guthixian forces in what is now the Wilderness, in what would have been the late Third Age. Given the game's approach to canon, certain elements of Graardor's role in the game may not be canonical.
Graardor appears in both the "God Wars" and "End of An Age" levels as a commander of Bandos's forces and is a prominent enemy of the player. During the "God Wars" level, which is set in the north-west Wilderness, Graardor commands the Bandosian army in what gradually becomes an all-out five-way battle between the forces of Bandos, Saradomin, Armadyl, Zamorak, and Guthix. Other key Third Age leaders such as Pazuzu, Wingman Skree, and Brother Constantius were amongst those whom Graardor faced.
Graardor also makes an appearance in the game's final level, "End of An Age." The level represents one of the God Wars' final battles, during which many forces clashed with the Guthixian army. Graardor, Commander Zilyana, Dag'eth, and other Third Age leaders are amongst those present. Although Guthix is ultimately victorious during the battle, Graardor and a number of other leaders evidently managed to escape, and later re-emerged.
The godsword[edit | edit source]
Graardor's last task in Bandos's forces came in the late Third Age when a hasty alliance between Bandos, Saradomin, and Armadyl fought against Zamorak in what is now called the God Wars Dungeon of Troll Country. The battle was evidently fought in an effort to claim the godsword, an extremely powerful weapon crafted by the Icyene, which has the fabled power to kill a god.
Although initially the battle was fought only between Zamorak and the Alliance, Graardor saw otherwise and was the first to betray the Alliance by attempting to storm Kree'arra's position with a handful of ogres, though he was repelled by Kree'arra. Graardor, content with betraying his "allies", oversaw the construction of a rudimentary base of operations in an offshoot of the cave. This fortress, now known as "Bandos' Stronghold," served to house both Graardor and troops rotating out of combat in the main chamber. Graardor himself was placed under the protection of Goblin Sergeants Strongstack, Steelwill, and Grimspike.
During the battle, Graardor and his soldiers obtained an amulet bearing Bandos' mark, having been tricked by the Saradominists into taking them. They eventually discovered the deception and began fighting Zilyana and her soldiers on equal footing.
In the midst of battle, the magus Aeternam cast a powerful freezing spell on the temple, imprisoning the combatants within for thousands of years, effectively ending the war. Graardor was amongst those left imprisoned. Very shortly after this occurred, the god Guthix established the Edicts of Guthix, preventing the direct involvement of any deity in Gielinor. The departure of the world's Gods and the subsequent end of the God Wars meant that the cavern was forgotten, and Graardor would remain frozen in time with its warring armies for more than 2,000 years to come.
In the recent Fifth Age, investigations by both the dwarven explorer Nestor Peregrine and the Asgarnian Temple Knights nearly resulted in the cave's (and Graardor's) rediscovery. In 169, tectonic movement in the neighboring Wilderness caused large portions of the cave to defrost, eventually leading to the release of most of the cavern's population. Unaware that the God Wars have ended, Graardor and the rest of the battle's leaders resumed the battle for the godsword once again, seemingly unaware that centuries have passed since the end of the wars.
The World Wakes[edit | edit source]
“ | Puny balance god stop wars returning. Bandos - almighty war god - desire battle, so Graardor create it. | ” |
When the archaeologist Orlando Smith discovered the last resting place of Guthix in 169 of the Fifth Age, it set off alarms that alerted the God Wars factions in an attempt to assassinate Guthix. Due to his inability to fly compared to his rivals, Graardor was forced to walk all the way to Guthix's hiding place, and was the last general to arrive, although he was the first one to initiate an attack, pummeling through the storage wings in a bid to reach Guthix. He was eventually met by Thaerisk Cemphier, Chaeldar, and the adventurer.
Expressing a desire to kill Guthix to please Bandos and participate in another God Wars, Graardor personally attacked the adventurer while his minions fought Thaerisk and Chaeldar. Graardor was eventually defeated and, having no other option, was forced to flee.
Missing, Presumed Death[edit | edit source]
Graardor accompanied Bandos to Sliske's "Grand Ascendancy". After the Dragonkin Strisath was released by Sliske, he and the other god followers left the Empyrean Citadel.
The Kyzaj Tournament[edit | edit source]
After learning of Bandos's death in his fight against Armadyl, Graardor and with several other Bandosian followers traveled to Lumbridge Swamp to launch an attack on Zanik and the Dorgeshuun, claiming that they were responsible for Bandos's demise due to losing most of his power after his attempt to subjugate Zanik into the Chosen Commander failed. However, the World Guardian managed to temporarily stall them due to their lack of leadership, by pointing out Zarador's rank that Bandos had given him in his fight against Armadyl. Zarador knew the World Guardian was attempting to stall, but was unable to convince Graardor, who believed that Zarador was attempting to challenge his authority of being the strongest. The indecision between the leaders of their races prompted a Kyzaj Tournament to be held, which Graardor had won numerous times in the past. The World Guardian was forced to act as a "trained attack beast" on Zanik's behalf, knowing that Zarador would have her killed if she stepped foot on Yu'biusk.
In the first round, Graardor faced Hobnob, the hobgoblins' champion, easily killing him. In the second round, he faced Bork; although Bork was significantly stronger than Hobnob, Graardor easily overpowered him. He then tried to kill Bork, but Zarador intervened and prevented him from doing so, as both the ourgs and orks were dangerously close to extinction.
On the World Guardian's side, they defeated Yelps, the goblin champion, and Lol, the mountain troll champion. Graardor did not appear to contend Yelps as a significant challenge, stating that he could easily beat up goblins all day. After they defeated Lol, Graardor was surprised they had survived, but was confident and believed that he could easily overpower them.
As the two remaining finalists in the tournament, Zarador told the World Guardian that they had to use the Kyzaj, an ancient and traditional tournament weapon. The World Guardian was quickly taught by Zanik and dueled Graardor, who used a large variety of attacks with his Kyzaj to kill them. Despite his best efforts, Graardor was defeated by them. By this time, Zarador threw Zanik down onto the arena, ordering for her death. The World Guardian had the option of killing or sparing her.
If they opted to kill her, Graardor becomes the new commander of the Bandosian remnants. He admits defeat, but is pleased that they are a true Bandosian at heart and that he is eager to challenge them in the future. If spared, Graardor becomes Zanik's lieutenant, but because she promotes peace, he cannot stand her and angrily leaves. Regardless, he returned to the Temple of the Lost Ancients, believing that without Bandos, the Bandosians need the godsword more than ever to defeat the other gods.
Current Activity[edit | edit source]
Graardor, along with his rival generals, soon found that the adventurers that explored the caverns they were fighting in had created the godsword for themselves. Graardor pulled out, as with the rest of the armies.[3] Zarador eventually heard of the battle at Senntisten and told Graardor, who began rallying his armies to the city's defence.
Arriving at Senntisten, Graardor and his host entered the sewers and pushed through the TzekHaar before reaching TzKal-Zuk.[4] Wishing to honour the memory of Bandos by defeating Zuk, Graardor challenged him to a duel after ordering his troops to stay outside.[5] However, he was defeated by the demigod, who had Graardor driven out of his arena.[6] Not long after, the World Guardian arrived on the scene, upon which Graardor begrudgingly acknowledged that Zuk was more than he could handle and advised the World Guardian to give Zuk the fight he wanted, if only to keep him away from the cathedral.[7]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

- When the player kills General Graardor, their Adventurer's log will say "I killed General Graardor, a huge warchief."
- Killing more than one will result in "I killed # General Graardors, all huge warchiefs."
- A puzzle box featuring Graardor can be obtained on Elite Treasure Trails.
- Prior to an update, Graardor's 100% drop were big bones rather than the ourg bones he drops now.
- An update changed Graardor's maximum hit due to complaints on how easy he was due to the Evolution of Combat.
- During The World Wakes or doing Graardor in hard mode, when Graardor uses his special attack, he shouts "Graardor Smash!". This is a reference to the Incredible Hulk's "Hulk Smash!".
- It is shown that Graardor has excessive pride, as he seems to make an excuse to cover up his defeats. In Missing, Presumed Death, if the player asks about defeating him in Cres' chamber, he will say that he "wasn't there" when Guthix died. In The Mighty Fall, he'll state that he had a "bad day".
- As of 1 February 2018, the highest kill count for this boss was 43,426 kills for normal mode, and 3,143 for hard mode.[8]
- This had increased to 44,805 for normal mode, and had not increased for hard mode by 13 December 2018.[9]
- General Graardor is the only boss in the God Wars dungeon that doesn't have wings.
- Like the other original God Wars Dungeon generals, Graardor's affinities are changed between normal and hard mode; however, he has the highest change, from 10 ranged affinity in normal mode to 70 ranged affinity in hard mode.
- A statue of Graardor can be built during God Statues.
