Description: Killing the Corporeal Beast
Please add tips to the subpage, rather than the article below.

The Corporeal Beast is the physical incarnation of the Spirit Beast, and is a boss monster. It requires completion of Summer's End to fight. The Corporeal Beast was brought into existence when the Spirit Beast was killed at the end of Summer's End; as everything within the Spirit Realm represents the opposite of its version on Gielinor, the death of the Spirit Beast in the Spirit Realm caused the creation of the Corporeal Beast in Gielinor. The Corporeal Beast resides in the Gielinor version of the caverns in which the Spirit Beast was trapped and destroyed.

The Corporeal Beast possesses a number of formidable abilities that distinguish it from similarly-levelled boss monsters. It has very high accuracy and damage. It is also capable of eating summoning familiars and legendary pets who are serving as Beast of Burden. Though it has no weaknesses, its thick armour greatly reduces the damage of all non-spear weapons. It can also summon dark energy cores to attack players and siphon their health as its own.

The Corporeal Beast is the only monster to drop the arcane, divine, elysian, and spectral sigils, used to create the spirit shields. In addition to its sigil drops, the Corporeal Beast has many other valuable drops.

Obtaining all unique drops will unlock the Dark Core [Name] title.

Locations[edit | edit source]

Getting there[edit | edit source]

The location of the cavern

The Corporeal Beast can be found at the end of a series of three large chambers. The entrance to the caverns is located in level 33 Wilderness, not far from the Graveyard of Shadows. The cavern can only be entered if the Gielinor version of the cave is not collapsed; otherwise, players must head into the Spirit Realm and collapse that version before the Gielinor version is open again.

However, players who have completed Summer's End may use a games necklace to teleport directly into the first of the caverns, or use the PvM portal to bring them right outside the chamber it resides in. Attempting to leave the caverns back out into the Wilderness while opted into PvP, a Wilderness warning prompt will appear before the player can continue.

Though the caves' entrance is in the Wilderness, the caverns themselves and the Corporeal Beast's lair are not dangerous Wilderness territory, as PVP and Wilderness level are disabled here. Before entering its room, players may investigate the passage and select the "Peek in" option to see a zoomed-in view of the Corporeal Beast's spawn point, in order to determine whether or not any other players are currently fighting it in uninstanced encounter.

Main drop[edit | edit source]

  1. ^ a b c d The droprate for obtaining a sigil is 1/512. If a player rolls the sigil drop table, there is a 1/5 chance of Arcane, 1/5 chance of Divine, 1/5 chance of Elysian, and 2/5 chance of Spectral.

Uncuts drop[edit | edit source]

The "uncuts" drop is a rare drop, which always consists of an uncut gem and one or more of the following:

Although the Corporeal Beast does not have a reference to the rare drop table, there is a very low chance of an additional item from the rare drop table. This drop can only occur in combination with the "uncuts" drop.

Tertiary drops[edit | edit source]

  1. ^ Has a base drop rate of 1/2,500 with a threshold of 500.
  2. ^ This drop only attempts to roll should you fail to roll a hard clue, should you get this item, there's a 1% chance it'll be upgraded to a sealed clue scroll (master).

Rare drop table[edit | edit source]

This monster has access to the rare drop table.
Luck-enhancing items are not required to access the table, but they will increase the chance of accessing the rare drop table and may also improve the loot received from it.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • During the 9 June 2009 game engine update glitch, players could solo the Corporeal Beast because it would not retaliate using Magic. It could, however, use its stomp attack.
  • An update to the Ring of Wealth on 15 March 2011 caused the sigil drop table to be landed on 100% of the time with LootShare enabled. This bug was patched within an hour of its release. Jagex later issued a statement with an apology and revealed that there would be no rollbacks.
  • After killing the Corporeal Beast, a player's Adventurer's Log will say "I killed the Corporeal Beast, a vision of supernatural horror." Killing more than one will result in "I killed X Corporeal Beasts, all visions of supernatural horror."
  • Like Revenants, it is possible for the Corporeal Beast to ignore the player and move around even if under attack.
  • Before the Evolution of Combat, Divine and Elysian had a 1 in 8 chance each when hitting the sigil drop table and Spectral and Arcane had a 3 in 8 chance each.[2]
  • The Corporeal Beast used to have a special attack called Stomp. It activated when players stood under it. This attack could hit over 4,500 damage. The Corporeal Beast did not have this attack when it was released; the Stomp attack was added one month later on 15 October 2008 in order to prevent players from hiding underneath it, and replaced with new mechanics on 12 September 2016.
    • Despite this, the "Learn" section for the boss still states that it possesses a stomp attack.
  • As of 1 February 2018, the highest kill count for this boss was 36,426 kills.[3]
