Christmas cracker paper is a currency earned via skilling and killing monsters during the 2018, 2019, and 2020 Christmas events. Adding at least 100 paper to the Christmas cracker at the north-east of the Grand Exchange enables the player to earn a Christmas cracker crate when the cracker is pulled; this can be repeated as often as it is pulled, which is approximately once a day. A maximum of 15,000 paper can be added to the cracker per cycle.

22–27 paper can be earned at a time from non-combat skilling every three minutes, 25–30 from killing monsters every three minutes (time is shared with non-combat skilling), 74–90 from turning in a non-extended daily challenge, or 155–181 from turning in an extended one.

When a player receives Christmas cracker paper, they are notified with one of the following messages:

• You find [amount] Christmas cracker paper. They are added to your bank. (When there is no space in backpack or in the currency pouch.)
• You find [amount] Christmas cracker paper. They are added to your inventory. (When there is space in backpack and there is none in the currency pouch.)
• You find [amount] x Christmas cracker paper. They are added to your currency pouch. (When there is some already in the currency pouch or if paper is found while Dungeoneering.)

The paper can be stored in the currency pouch.

Inspecting the paper yields the message This paper can be added to the giant Christmas cracker at the Grand Exchange. To be eligible to pull the cracker, you need to add 100 pieces of paper. When the cracker is pulled, your contribution will be reset. This was followed by The cracker is currently [amount]% complete and you have contributed [amount] paper this cycle. The player was then offered a teleport to the cracker.

After the removal of the 2018 event, any remaining paper was automatically converted into 10 coins each upon logging in after the game update on 7 January 2019. On 4 January 2021 after the game update the following message was shown instead upon logging in: Your event currency will disappear soon, make sure to use it before it does! The cracker had already disappeared at this point, though, and the paper couldn't be used. The remaining paper was converted again into 10 coins each upon logging in after the beginning of 5 January 2021.

Rewards

Adding paper to the Christmas cracker in the Grand Exchange rewards the player with up to 10 Construction experience per piece, scaled with the player's Construction level:

Trivia

• If Christmas cracker paper was in the currency pouch and the player enters a Dungeoneering dungeon, clicking on it in the currency pouch in the dungeon still gave the usual prompts; the prompt asking the user to teleport to the cracker was also given.
