Stardust detail.png

Stardust can be mined during the Shooting Star Distractions and Diversions activity. Shooting stars randomly land anywhere on Gielinor approximately once every two hours.

Players can help identify the general area where it will land (Asgarnia, Misthalin, etc.) by using a telescope in a Player-owned house. After mining a crashed star down to its core, players can exchange up to 200 stardust with the Star sprite once per day.

The amount of experience per stardust mined varies by the current level of the crashed star.

Rewards[edit | edit source]

200 stardust can be exchanged with the Star sprite in the core of the Shooting Star to be rewarded with:

Reward Grand Exchange
market value
50,002 coins Not sold
152 Cosmic runes 46,360
52 Astral runes 39,988
20 Gold stone spirit 17,020
Total 153,370

Despite being a members object, astral runes are also given to free players.

Additionally, players will also be rewarded with a buff that grants a chance to mine 2 ores at once from any rock. The duration of the buff increases with the amount of stardust handed in, lasting 15 minutes when handing in 200. This effect stacks with that of Varrock armour. This has no effect on mining essence. Logging out will pause the timer.

The same items are received but in lesser amounts if less than 200 stardust is exchanged. While stardust can be banked, it is not possible to have more than 200 at one time. Stardust is affected by the Imp Souled perk.

If the Star sprite despawns before exchanging the dust players must wait until they find another sprite to exchange the dust with.
