The grand seed pod is obtained from the Gnome Restaurant minigame. Seed pods are stackable. They can be used to teleport to the Grand Tree, and have two right-click options: launch and squash. Launching the seed pod can only be done outdoors, and causes Captain Lamdoo to appear after a delay, taking the player to the top of the Grand Tree when he does. This also grants 100 Farming experience. Squashing the seed pod will take the player to the Grand Tree faster than Launching it, but temporarily reduces their Farming level by 5 and grants no experience.
Lamdoo will appear at the spot where the seed pod was launched after a few seconds. When he does, the player will automatically run to him, unless he is too far away. In the latter case, Lamdoo will remain for a short while and has to be spoken to in order to be taken to the Grand Tree. He will take people who are in combat, and, if the pod is launched in advance, may even rescue people from Kruk or other ninjas on Ape Atoll.
After an update both launching and squashing the grand seed pod can only be used at level 30 wilderness or lower. Previously, the launching teleport method worked up to level 40 Wilderness.
With the update to the minigame on 1 February 2010, this item has become a more common reward. This item used to be rewarded in bunches of 5. Since the update, they come in stacks of 8-15.
Controversy[edit | edit source]
The grand seed pod is a popular item used for drop trick scamming. The seed is not inherently dangerous on its own, however receiving it in trade and being asked to drop items is indicitave of a scam. Players should be extremely cautious when dealing with what could be a scammer. More information on scams and this particular scam can be found here.
