A pontifex signet ring is a Zarosian artefact that is made by restoring its damaged variant at an archaeologist's workbench. The damaged artefact is excavated from the Carcerem debris excavation hotspot at the Kharid-et Dig Site with level 58 Archaeology.

The artefact can be worn, carried in the player's inventory, or added to the tool belt to allow the player to pass through the barrier of the Kharid-et Dig Site chapel giving access to the altar and the two shadow anchors. With a pontifex signet ring, and a legatus pendant, the player is able to walk through the maximum security barrier in the The Vault of Shadows, just north of the entrance from the prison block. Behind the maximum security barrier, players can talk to the strange device.

Completion of Azzanadra's Quest allows the player to upgrade the ring to a pontifex observation ring which provides multiple skilling bonuses. The ring can be upgraded several further times with other quests to provide a series of higher bonuses.

Collections
DescriptionThese signet rings were used only by high-ranking members of the Church of Zaros, in order to access secure areas of the fort.
  1. ^ This is the amount for trading in the artefact at the listed collectors. A part of the collections give an additional amount of chronotes upon completion. The amount in the parentheses is the amount obtained when donating to the museum donation bin, which will give only 40% of the amount one would get from a collector.
