A lapis lazuli gem is obtained from cutting uncut lapis lazuli with the dwarven army axe or a chisel.
It can be used with unfinished wooden brooch to create a lapis lazuli brooch. Combining the brooch and the stone grants the player 30 Crafting experience. Alternatively, it can be smelted with a silver bar at level 11 Crafting, making a lapis lazuli ring grants 38 crafting experience, and the ring can be enchanted into a ring of Luck. The latter is recommended as both rings are tradeable and offers a decent profit.
General stores will buy this off players for 150 coins, making this a good early-game moneymaker for Ironmen.

- patch 14 February 2022 (Update):
- Fixed an issue which prevented lapis lazuli gem from being used with magic notepaper.
- Prior to the luck rework update, the examine text was "Combine this with a setting from cutting trees with your Army Axe."
- Some Burthorpe/Taverley skill tutors (e.g. Jack Oval) could not buy this from players despite displaying a buying price of 150, with the error message "The shop is carrying too much stock at the moment, and cannot buy new types of items from you." even if nothing was sold to them prior and other items can still be sold.
