The ring of random is an item obtained during certain April Fools' events, starting with 2018, until 2023. It is obtained randomly by selecting a rare item after attempting to wear the ring of rares.

Rather randomly, you receive a rather random ring.

The player can wear the ring to transform into old random event NPCs. These include:

• Drunken Dwarf
• Evil Bob
• Frog Herald
• Genie
• Mime
• Strange plant
• River troll
• Mysterious Old Man
• Quiz Master
• Cap'n Arnav
• Leo
• Freaky Forester
• Giles
• Rick Turpentine
• Dr Jekyll

Before 2020, attempting to wear the ring after 00:00 UTC on 2 April would produce the following message: The ring slips from your grasp and rolls away, never to be seen again. This would then remove the ring of rares and the ring of random from the player's account. From 2020 onwards the rings simply disappeared automatically.
