Sloane is a strong warrior and a member of the Warriors' Guild, where he runs the shotput minigame in exchange for Strength tokens. He can be found on the 1st floor[UK]2nd floor[US] of the guild, outside the shotput room. He sells the Strength cape and hood for 99,000 coins to members who have achieved skill mastery in Strength, and the Strength master cape for 120,000 coins to members who have achieved true skill mastery by reaching virtual level 120 (equivalent to 104,273,167 experience) in Strength.
He comes from a long line of warriors, all living by a code which compels them to face evil. It was this code which drove him to join the Warriors' Guild.[1] He wields a giant axe, which he won in a bet with Yadech Strongarm. He challenged the barbarian to a contest, catching a squirrel while holding the axe. Yadech chased the squirrel but failed to catch it, while Sloane chased the squirrel up a tree, then used the axe to cut the tree down and catch the squirrel, winning the axe.
When the Mahjarrat Lucien rose to power, the cross-religious alliance of Crux Eqal, Temple Knights and Guardian of Armadyl decided to take action, recruiting a group of nine warriors, Slayer Masters and adventurers. Sloane was amongst the second group recruited, alongside his fellow guild members Harrallak Menarous and Ghommal. He joined willingly, driven by his code to join them in the fight against evil.[1] He, along with the rest of the group led by Hazelmere, waited for an opportune time to attack Lucien outside the Chaos Temple in deep Wilderness whilst another adventurer spied on the Mahjarrat. Lucien summoned up an army of undead then identified the spy, attacking them. This caused Hazelmere to order them in. They engaged Lucien, but the necromancer proved too powerful. Sloane and Duradel were the first to fall to the powerful magic, quickly followed by Cyrisus, Ghommal and Turael, then finally Hazelmere. Only Harralak, Mazchna and the spy, who had not directly fought Lucien themselves, survived, all of them retreating to safety.
Yadech Strongarm replaced Sloane, taking over his roles at the Warriors' Guild. Several statues of Sloane were erected.
His spirit is one of the random five spirits that can be found by the owlery in the City of Um after the player has reached 75 Necromancy. He may be saluted in honour of his actions before his passing, as part of the Um Pop achievement. Re-entering the city (e.g. by changing servers) re-rolls the random spirit.

Trivia
[edit | edit source]- Sloane is an Irish name which means "military expedition".
- As of the graphical updates to capes of accomplishment, Sloane's cape during While Guthix Sleeps is bugged, being a Slayer rather than a Strength cape.
