Spinning plate detail.png

The spinning plate is one of the many toys from Diango in Draynor Village. However, it cannot be sold back to him, and was released as a joke by Jagex in reply to the constant demand of a "dragon plate" (dragon platebody armour). On the spinning plate, there is a picture of a dragon.

Diango says that the shipment of spinning plates were delayed by thieves, who apparently wanted "dragon plates". This joke is now obsolete due to the fact that dragon platebodies have actually been made.

If the player spins the spinning plate, they will attempt to balance the plate on a stick. Usually, the plate will fall and the player will do the Cry emote. Occasionally, the plate will continue to spin, and the player will make the Cheer emote. It might be possible that the higher a player's Agility level, the less the chance of failing at spinning the plate, although there are still chances of success at a low Agility level.

Originally, when the plate fell, the disk would break, and another one had to be bought. Due to several complaints, a plate will not break anymore and it will be on the ground.

Oddly enough, for a short time (approx. a day or so) after the 15 January 2008 update, when a player would spin a spinning plate, it would appear in midair one space to the right of the character. This seems to have been fixed in one of the updates within a day of the glitch being found.

When a player hovers the mouse over the icon in their inventory, it shows a crafting icon. This is because the cursor changes icon based on the in-game word for the action the player would do if they clicked. In this case, the game is led to think that a player is spinning a spinning wheel when they are about to "spin" the plate. This is similar to the crafting icon shown when the player hovers the cursor over a dwarf multicannon ("fire" sounds like firing a pottery oven).
