Transmogrification is the concept of transforming into a different shape or form. In RuneScape, there are many different ways that a player can transform into a different form using an item - usually called a "transmog" item.

- patch 12 July 2021 (Update):
- Changes have been made to that users can access the chat window on mobile so they may chat while their player character is transmogrified/transformed.
- patch 4 May 2021 (Update):
- A chat message will appear whenever a player is unable to transmogrify.
- Players will no longer be able to transmogrify while playing the Heist minigame or while actively hunting during the Big Game Hunter activity, sitting on the Completionist Throne, or taking part in PvP duels.
- hotfix 4 May 2020 (Update):
- Transmog rings (e.g. Ring of Stone) can no longer be activated whilst in PvP zones. Additionally, Transmog rings can no longer be reclaimed from the Emotes interface whilst in the duel arena.
- patch 21 October 2019 (Update):
- A set of Rings that transformed the player into the barrows brothers now correctly transfer ownership when traded.
- patch 22 July 2019 (Update):
- Fixed an issue that caused the emotes list (text) to sometimes become overlapped when switching between emotes and transmogs.
- update 11 March 2019 (Update):
- All transmog items have been moved into a dedicated separate tab on the emotes interface.
- patch 18 December 2017 (Update):
- The click radius has been reduced on a large amount of items that transmogrify the player, such as the Ring of Stone.
