Set bonus

edit

Verac the Defiled's equipment has a set bonus called Verac's Defilement:

  • While wearing the full equipment set, attacks have a 20% chance of dealing ~14% increased damage.

Additionally, Verac's equipment also retains its pre-Evolution of Combat effect: the player has a chance to deal full damage against certain monsters whilst they are using Protect from Melee. This effect does not appear on the tooltip for Verac's equipment. This includes but is not limited to:

Notably, this effect does not work on Sigmund.

Amulet of the forsaken

edit

When combined with the amulet of the forsaken, the set bonus loses its ability to increase damage. Instead, it gains the ability to reset the global cooldown when an ability or auto-attack is used, allowing usage of an ability or auto-attack the tick after the initial hit. In legacy mode, there is a 20% chance to activate this effect with a lower chance in Evolution of Combat. This effect cannot activate back-to-back. For example, the player cannot have five instant hits, as the cap is reached after one instant hit.

Because the instant hit is used a tick after the initial hit, it's possible to switch to a higher-hitting weapon, such as a noxious scythe from the lower-hitting Verac's flail. However, this requires a tick-perfect action. In legacy mode, it was possible to switch to a weapon with fastest attack speed, switch back to Verac's flail, and keep attacking. This would reduce the downtime between attacks from the normal 3.6 seconds to 2.4 seconds. However, using a tier 90 weapon with the fastest speed deals 7% less damage than using a tier 90 weapon with average speed.

If executed correctly, switching to a tier 90 weapon for the instant hit after activating the set bonus provides an average damage per second increase of 6-7% over only using a tier 90 weapon.

Repair

edit

Barrows equipment degrades as it is used. Equipment received from Barrows is fully repaired and can be used for 100,000 charges of combat until it degrades completely and requires repair before it can be used again; it does not suffer in performance as it degrades from fully repaired to fully degraded. The remaining charges of Barrows equipment can be checked by right-clicking it and selecting "check charges". Additionally, Barrows equipment may only be traded if fully repaired or fully degraded. Items lose 20% charge if reclaimed from a gravestone after dying.

There are two ways to repair Barrows armour. Players can talk to any of the characters listed below and they will repair the items for a price, or repair the pieces themselves using an armour stand in any player-owned house for a reduced cost based on their Smithing level. The equipment can be repaired at any stage, and the cost will be adjusted according to how much it has degraded. The repair costs below are as if the equipment has fully degraded.

The following characters can repair the armour:

Costs to repair
Barrows equipment
Character Player-owned house armour stand
Level 1 Smithing Level 99 Smithing
Helm 138,000 136,620 69,000
Body 264,000 261,360 132,000
Legs 198,000 196,020 99,000
Two-handed weapon 300,000 297,000 150,000
Total 900,000 891,000 450,000

Furthermore, main-hand Barrows weapons cost 200,000 coins to fully repair at a character mentioned above, which can be reduced down to 100,000 coins at 99 Smithing. Off-hand Barrows weapons cost 100,000 coins, reducible down to 50,000 coins at 99 Smithing, respectively.
