The heartbreak pendant is an item obtained by trading in 750 Valentine hearts from 14 February to 14 March 2013, or 150 rose petals from 12 February to 13 March 2015. Valentine hearts and rose petals are acquired via skilling, combat and Squeal of Fortune or Treasure Hunter, from 14 February to 25 February 2013 and 12 February to 16 February 2015 respectively. Like its Lovestruck pendant counterpart, only one pendant can be obtained, and only the pendant obtained using Valentine hearts provides up to 34,400 bonus experience.

The pendant must be attuned to one of the player's five lowest skills when it is first equipped. All experience gained in that skill is then multiplied by 1.5 as long as the pendant has not depleted. It continues to work even if that skill is no longer one of the five lowest. The amulet can be reattuned to a different skill at any time. Unlike the Pendant of Skill, the Heartbreak and Lovestruck pendants do stack with experience-boosting sets and proto-tools.

A new variant became available from 15 February 2017 to 1 March 2017 from event mystery boxes and big event mystery boxes. It can also be obtained by smashing Ancient relics received from the Smashing Relics Treasure Hunter promotion.

The 2017 variant could be operated directly for bonus experience in one of the player's five lowest skills. At level 99, between 10,323 and 10,323.2 bonus experience was rewarded. It was destroyed upon extraction.

As of February 10, 2020 it is again available from Ancient Relics for some time.
