Willow roots are roots that have been dug up from a tree patch by a player after growing and then chopping down a willow tree using the skill of Farming. A spade is needed to dig up these roots. A player can only obtain one root per tree no matter what kind of compost has been used. You must first chop down and only after clear (dig up) the tree patch to get tree root.

Willow roots can be used to make Supercompost, or spun on a spinning wheel to make Crossbow strings.

Digging chance

The following success rates are provided by Jagex, unless otherwise specified.

Willow roots can be obtained from Farming by digging up a willow tree stump. This performs a skilling success chance roll based on your Farming level; if you fail the roll you will automatically try again in a few ticks. Succeeding will dig up the stump and give 1 set of roots - there is a 10% chance to get another set of roots when wearing the master farmer outfit (5% with tree farmer outfit).
