Grimy guam detail.png

A grimy guam is a herb dropped by various monsters or harvested from a guam plant grown from a guam seed in a herb patch, requiring level 9 Farming. A minimum of three grimy guam are harvested at a time.

Grimy guam can be stored in a herb bag. Up to 50 grimy guam can be stored in the herb bag, and up to 100 can be stored in the upgraded herb bag. Players can only have one herb bag at a time.

Grimy guam can be cleaned, requiring level 1 Herblore and yielding 2.5 Herblore experience. Clean guam are required to craft attack potionsranging potions and super fishing explosives. They are also used as a tertiary component when crafting macaw pouches.

Farming[edit | edit source]

Grimy guam can be harvested from guam plants grown in a herb patch. A fully grown guam will yield a minimum of three grimy guam at harvest. When picked, each grimy guam gives 12.5 Farming experience.

Harvest yields for guam plants are determined by a "harvest lives" system. Each guam plant begins with 3 lives. Additional lives are added with the use of compost (+1 life), supercompost (+2 lives) and ultracompost (+3 lives). Every harvest action will roll a chance out of 255 on the specific patch's "Chance to Save", taking one of the harvest lives from the patch if it does not hit; the patch will be cleared when it runs out of lives. The "Chance to Save" is dependent on the player's Farming level.

Update history[edit | edit source]

This information has been compiled as part of the update history project. Some updates may not be included—see here for how to help out!
  • update 7 December 2004 (Update):
    • Throne of Miscellania has had some adjustments to the rewards for running the kingdom. You now don't quite get as many herbs, but as you don't get either Marrentill or Guam leaf in your selection of herbs the average value of herbs you get has increased.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • On 2 March 2013, grimy guams were made available to free players with the release of Burthorpe and Taverley becoming free to play areas.
