The aurelian cape is a promotional Treasure Hunter prize that is gained from prestiging the butterfly the first time during the Flight of the Butterflies between 24 and 28 March 2016. It was also available during the 2022 and 2023 Spring Festivals for 8,000 Spring Tokens.
It starts with four charges, and more charges can be added by either using small, medium, large, or huge butterfly jars on it, or by choosing the "Charge" option on the jars. Members can activate it once a day to release a butterfly for experience in the players' lowest skill, using up a charge. This limit refreshes upon each daily reset, regardless of logout. The amount of experience gained is equal to that gained from catching four Guthixian butterflies. This can be improved by 10% by wearing a butterfly necklace. The cape will store up to a maximum of 2,000 charges, after which butterfly jars will not charge the cape until the stored charges are used. If the cape is destroyed while it contains charges, it will retain those charges when reclaimed from Diango.
There is a confirmation prompt about the cape being capable of releasing one charge per day when charging the cape with the butterfly jars that can be toggled off permanently.
This repeatable content has a hard reset.

- Aurelian is an archaic word for a lepidopterist, one who is interested in or studies butterflies. The term is derived from aurelia, meaning chrysalis, and relates to the golden colour a chrysalis may attain just before the butterfly emerges.
