Snowballs are a ranged thrown weapon that were initially introduced as a seasonal weapon during the 2014 Christmas event. Snowballs became available outside of holiday events as of 31 August 2021 with the release of the Glacor Front via crafting glacor remnants.

Any snowballs thrown as an auto-attack do not appear on the ground and are always lost. However, abilities never consume snowballs.

Christmas events

[edit | edit source]

2014 Christmas event

[edit | edit source]

Snowballs were used to defeat Snowverload during the 2014 Christmas event. They were gathered in stacks of 100 by right clicking him, and there was no limit to how many a player could have at once.

2015 Christmas event

[edit | edit source]

Snowballs returned during the 2015 Christmas event. They were used to pelt the snowmen the player built and also to pelt Snowverload and a few penguins, including General Pinchkin.

They were the only weapons that could harm Snowverload. However, players could not deal the finishing blow to him, which was only done if brought to Santa Claus at the Lumbridge crater.

Glacor Front

[edit | edit source]

Snowballs can now be made from glacor remnants which are obtained from glacytes and Arch-Glacor.

Christmas Village

[edit | edit source]

Snowballs are available through fletching them from the pile of snow in Christmas Village. An Amulet of Fletcher's Offerings does not consume the snowballs, nor does it apply the experience boost. However, an Amulet of Offerings does work.

During the 2023 Christmas event these were made via Crafting. This was changed to Fletching for the 2024 Christmas event.

When players wield snowballs in the Christmas Village, a "pelt" option appears on other players. Selecting this causes the player to throw a snowball at them, losing a snowball.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Although they have tier 30 accuracy and 0 damage stat, they disassemble identically as bronze darts. While they have the attack speed of darts, they have an attack range of 7, same as Morrigan's javelin; they have the longest range of any F2P thrown weapon.
  • This item's destroy message has changed multiple times. During the 2014 Christmas event it was "You can obtain more snowballs by taking them from Snowverload." During the 2015 Christmas event it was "You can obtain more snowballs by taking them from Snowverload or helping yourself to the enchanted snow behind the Queen of Snow."
  • The disassembly animation plays when creating snowballs at the pile of snow.
