Hamel is the clubfooted young peon serving under Sir Theodore as his assistant. Although his disability disqualifies him from becoming a fully fledged member of the White Knights, Theodore keeps him on in order to help manage the task of training new recruits in Varrock.
During the Misthalin-Morytania War of 164, Hamel sneaks into the battle at Paterdomus disguised as a ranger. Theodore identifies him immediately and allows him to fight regardless.
