He originally came from Taverley. He invited his friend Dotmatrix over, who was attacked by a mutated jadinko.

Astlayrix's name is a pun on the '80s pop star Rick Astley and the common convention of ending druidic names with '-ix'. His examine text is an allusion to "Never Gonna Give You Up", Astley's hit song that has become the centre of an internet meme.
