The soul talisman is an item that allows players to enter the soul altar located beneath Menaphos, after completion of 'Phite Club. It can be combined with a tiara to make a soul tiara for 55 Runecrafting experience at the soul altar by using the tiara on the altar. Both the tiara and the talisman allow players to train the Runecrafting skill.

The soul talisman, and thus soul runecrafting, was released on 5 June 2017 as a drop from feline and imperial guard akhs in the Sophanem Slayer Dungeon. It may also be obtained from looting sarcophagi in Shifting Tombs. Both drop sources have a drop rate of 1/200.

The soul talisman can be used on the wicked hood, allowing the hood to be used to enter the soul altar. This will consume the talisman.

Altar location

[edit | edit source]

Prior to completing 'Phite Club, using the "Locate" function results in the message: "The talisman doesn't seem to work, maybe the ruins are deep underground." After completion of the quest the talisman will pull you in the direction of a fountain in the south-west corner of the imperial district of Menaphos. Using the soul talisman on the fountain will drain the fountain of its water revealing the entrance to the soul altar.

Using the talisman on the map in the Runecrafting Guild reveals the altar is "Located within the walls of Menaphos." However, as that map existed long before Menaphos' release, it does not include the city, and erroneously points to the location of Heart of Gielinor.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Soul talisman was added to the game cache on 13 June 2005. It was discovered on the RuneScape website via URL manipulation, which revealed images of the item. Jagex responded to the discovery by removing the soul talisman image from the website. With the RuneScape Companion app update, the images became accessible once again.
  • Players who already had an Omni-talisman in their wicked hood before the release of the soul talisman had a soul talisman automatically added to their hood.
  • The soul talisman cannot be added to an Omni-talisman staff.
  • The soul talisman could not be traded on the Grand Exchange until 19 June 2017.
  • Prior to the update on 5 February 2018, soul talismans could only be obtained from specific soul devourers. It was added to Shifting Tombs on that date to accommodate for Ironman Mode players, as they also had an indirect requirement of level 107 Slayer since the feline akh was the lowest levelled monster that they could get a soul talisman from.
