Rory the reindeer is a pet available from Solomon's General Store for 1,083 RuneCoins, or 975 for members.

Rory the reindeer has three stages of growth. It will take approximately 15 hours to reach the adolescent stage and an additional 25 hours to reach the adult stage, though this can be sped up by interacting with the pet. Stages can be skipped by using a Growth Surge on the pet, e.g. baby to adolescent or adolescent to adult.

Rory the reindeer does not need to be fed like a normal pet, although feeding it Tasty Treats will increase the rate at which it grows by 50%, and feeding it Jelly Treats will increase it by 100%.

Like all pets and summoning familiars, it cannot enter or use its abilities in certain areas.

Abilities

edit

Legendary pets have several unique abilities. Pets in the baby stage can have one active ability, adolescent pets can have two, and adult pets can have three. Abilities can be switched out at any time unless that ability is on cooldown. Active abilities are switched via the pet interface by clicking on the "Abilities" button at the bottom right corner.

Life Saver, Slayer Finisher, Item Repair, and Fertiliser are not available for Ironman Mode accounts.

Ability Type Description Notes
Forage.png: RS3 Inventory image of Forage Active Finds items for you as you explore. The pet can randomly forage items when they are summoned. Coins foraged go directly to coin pouch, but other items appear on a random nearby tile. This can also be triggered actively, but with a low success rate. The foraged item is always one of the following:
Banking.png: RS3 Inventory image of Banking Active (10 minutes cooldown) Takes one item to the bank for you. The pet is able to take an item to the bank; they can take one item every 10 minutes, and a stack of noted items are banked all at once.

This ability does not send ores or bars to the metal bank nor does it send Archaeology materials to the material storage container; they go directly to the bank.

This ability cannot be used to bank the expansive pouch.

Scavenge.png: RS3 Inventory image of Scavenge Passive Collects the most expensive item from monsters that you defeat. The pet is able to scavenge dropped items from the moment it is obtained. To access the scavenge feature, 'Interact' with the pet and select 'Convenience', then select 'Scavenge'. When scavenge is selected, a menu interface will appear; the pet will automatically collect charms, but is able to pick up other items too. The players can make the pet scavenge: "Coins", "Salvage", "Runes & talismans", "Herbs & seeds", "Weapons", "Armour", "Metal bars & ore", "Stone spirits", "Bones & ashes", "Raw & cooked food"", "Noted items", and "Miscellaneous".

Regular ashes, such as those dropped by creatures in the Abyss or the dark energy core from the Corporeal Beast, are considered "Herbs & seeds" and not "Bones & ashes".

Legendary pets are able to pick up boss pets.

The pet will only pick up one item from a slain enemy; if an enemy drops two or more items, the pet will only pick up one. The pet will not always pick up items after a kill. There is a chance that the item picked up by the pet be sent directly to the bank rather than the backpack. This ability has a 10-second cooldown.

To deactivate scavenge, 'interact' with the pet, select 'convenience' and select 'Heel'.

Life Saver (Legendary pet ability).png: RS3 Inventory image of Life Saver (Legendary pet ability) Passive (2 hours cooldown) If your health drops below 10%, your legendary pet will drag you to safety. This does not work in PvP areas. The pet will save the players from death, as per a ring of life. This does not work in PvP areas and has a two-hour cooldown (logged-in time).
Slayer Finisher.png: RS3 Inventory image of Slayer Finisher Passive Finish off any slayer monsters that require an item to be killed. The pet will automatically finish off Slayer monsters that usually require an item, saving the players a right-click action and/or a backpack space.
Item Repair.png: RS3 Inventory image of Item Repair Active (1 hour cooldown) Use weapons and armours on your pet to have them repaired (normal costs still apply). Once per hour, the players can use a repairable degrading item on the pet to repair it immediately. This works and costs the same as using the armour stand in a player-owned house.
Beast of Burden (Legendary pet ability).png: RS3 Inventory image of Beast of Burden (Legendary pet ability) Passive Use a beast of burden pouch on your pet to gain the ability to store items in your pet. This does not work in PvP areas. Using a Beast of Burden familiar pouch on the pet allows it to act as a version of that familiar in terms of time limit and storage capacity. The pet will always have 45,000 life points, regardless of which pouch is used. Using multiple pouches on the pet lets players extend the time for up to two hours, based on the duration of the pouch used. The carrying capacity can be extended by using a pouch with more storage capacity than the first pouch used. The new capacity will be set to that of the newer pouch. Using a pouch with a smaller capacity will not reduce the pet's carrying capacity. Unlike most Beasts of Burden, legendary pets do not use Summoning points.
High Level Alchemy (Legendary pet ability).png: RS3 Inventory image of High Level Alchemy (Legendary pet ability) Active (10 minutes cooldown) Use items on your pet to cast High Level Alchemy on items transforming them into gold. Once per 10 minutes, use an item on the pet to convert it to coins, as per the High Level Alchemy spell. This requires 55 Magic, but does not consume runes or grant any experience.
Fertiliser.png: RS3 Inventory image of Fertiliser Active (1 hour cooldown) Use the natural abilities of your pet to create super compost. Every hour (of logged in time), the pet can be interacted with to spawn pet droppings, which can be picked up for six buckets of compost or supercompost if the player is on a members' world. It also has a 1 in 10,000 chance of spawning Mod Daze's homework or Mod Dolan's rubber duck.
