A wood spirit is a wood spirit that allows the player to receive an additional set of logs when chopping trees. One wood spirit will be used up for each additional set of logs gained. Two spirits are used at once if the player has a Seer's headband equipped, allowing them to gain four sets of logs per chop. No additional experience is awarded for the extra logs.

They can be stored in wood boxes after completing the Unwelcome Guests quest and building the Grove in Fort Forinthry.

Price history

edit

Prior to 25 November 2024, most wood spirits were not on any drop tables, and were only available from bird's nests, resulting in a rather inconsistent supply. However, the demand for them was low, resulting in a generally low price and trade volume.

With the release of 110 Woodcutting on 9 December 2024, the hatchet of bloom and blight was introduced to the game. Part of the crafting process of this hatchet requires the player to consume 100 of each type of wood spirits in the game, resulting in a notable spike in demand. While most types of spirits had reliable means of obtaining them, normal and oak wood spirits were dropped very infrequently and in small quantities by low-level enemies, making them time-consuming to obtain. This enormous demand and low supply resulted in both of these low-tier spirits to become extremely overvalued, with some instances of them being bought and sold for over 100,000 coins per spirit. This was remedied in the following week's update, where they were added to the drop tables of minotaurs, young grotworms, and H.A.M. Members, causing their price to re-stabilise.
