The defensive shield is the only two-handed shield in all of RuneScape. It is used during the Warriors' Guild catapult activity, and you can acquire one of these shields by talking to Gamfred on the 1^st floor^[UK]2^nd floor^[US] of the Warriors' Guild. It can only be equipped while in the activity room, and it is automatically unequipped when exiting the room. Usage of the shield to participate in the activity is a slower tactic of obtaining warrior guild tokens compared to killing summoned armours.

The shield has 4 defensive options: stab, blunt, slash and magic. Successfully defending against the correct attack type awards a player with 10 Defence experience and 4 warrior guild tokens. While the shield is equipped, the defensive options interface will appear automatically. The quest, prayer, magic, options, emotes, and music menus will be hidden.

Trivia

• It is possible to equip both the shield and a one-handed weapon at the same time. This is done by entering the catapult room, opening the Equipment Bonuses menu and equipping the shield, then a one-handed weapon. (this proves that the shield is one-handed). Jagex has not fixed this glitch yet, although it is impossible to gain any advantage from it because the shield is unequipped upon leaving the catapult room.
