Wax is an item that players need to complete the Troll Romance quest. They make it by using swamp tar on a bucket of wax with a cake tin in their inventory. This consumes the entire bucket of wax and you do not get the bucket back.

They use it on a sled to protect the wood and to make the sled more slippery. This returns the message: "You wax the sled. You're now ready to go."
