Re: Please leave it next time
[edit source]Crossposted among User talk:A proofreader, User talk:Joeytje50, and User talk:Degenret01.
Some clarifications, which I don't think are going to change what you said:
- The maps are maps of spawn points, not roam ranges. In cases where the roam ranges are small (McGrubor's Wood, Dragontooth Isle, etc.), the map does include all the borders. In other cases (notably Piscatoris, Oo'glog, Rellekka, and Digsite to name only a few spawns in one range), they're not.
- I don't think anyone was thinking of continuously updating penguin locations in place of spawn locations.
- Although IMO w60 is the most popular penguin-hunting world, w71 has at least one group as well. (For double peng points in Oct 2011, w60 and its backup world w66, were the only two worlds where logins went into a queue; w71 and its backup world w99 didn't.) My understanding (I wasn't involved and didn't observe it) is that there has already been an extensive edit war on Jagex's wikified game guide regarding unofficial worlds. It's worth keeping in mind so nothing similar happens here.
HTH. --Saftzie (talk) 03:29, November 4, 2012 (UTC)
- Well, for the largest roam range, the map of the range would be almost the whole world. Let's just say some penguins can leave the area where they spawn, and a map of the whole world wouldn't add much value.
- ...
- It was one day only and a Thursday. (Existential question: What was Jagex thinking?)
- There has been no progress on any js for the table. In my life, I've written js, but I'm not primarily a coder. The discussion at the time was about hiding individual columns one by one, at the user's discretion. There was some code written (not by me) as a prototype, but never implemented, for just the map column. Ultimately my position was that update/maintenance of two tables with the same info on the same page seemed really silly, but if other people wanted to add the second one every week, that was fine. That's where we are now. Having a one-click solution that turns the big table into the small table goes even farther than one column at a time, but if we could do that, that actually seems pretty cool. My question would be what that would do to table maintenance. --Saftzie (talk) 05:29, November 4, 2012 (UTC)

Re:Obsolete beta images due to 2nd human model update?
[edit source]Remember in chat when I said I wasn't going to do any human-based images? It was because Jagex was working on a second facial update because players weren't satisfied with the first. After the second facial update, all the images that were updated after the first facial update (September) became obsolete.
Yes, we're still not doing any human images because the natural pose will change as well. You can easily see the difference between the base position of the live game and the beta. That's why I'm only doing beta images right now, so when EoC releases, it can simply be merged with the obsolete version.
You don't have to tag Obfile for now. Perhaps until the beta namespace is completely gone, when all the beta stuff is merged to mainspace. --
SpineTalk

- I suppose so. After all it'll take a while to merge the beta data to mainspace. --

Re: Challenge over protection of the Dragon Keepsake Key images
[edit source]The file I have provided shows how the key retains the stat bonuses of chosen equipped items whilst appearing to wear other items. It is a good example of the key because it shows a cosmetic difference in the appearance of the character to what they would expect from a player wearing the bandos armour without storing the armadyl armour in the Dragon Keepsake Box. I mentioned in the wiki page edit that a player can wear nothing for the cosmetic override to work, but I wanted to show how the stat bonuses of the equipped armour carry over through the cosmetic appearance of the Dragon Keepsake Key's cosmetic armour, which is what Jagex supposed during the update description. I uploaded this file 10 minutes before you did, i am trying to come to some agreement with you. Is it possible to use both images because showing the Dragon Keepsake Key to make a player appear to wear Dragon (or) whilst wearing nothing is impressive, but it is more informative to show evidence of the stat retainments of the equipped armour over the cosmetic appearance.

- This is the day. I'm not lying when I say that there have already been times where I've wanted to request a ban. Now please. No one important will miss me. MolMan 23:02, November 13, 2012 (UTC)
- I'm as calm as I'll get for now (I'm sure you know I've been having a shitty November) but as far as this situation (or any) is concerned, a ban is long overdue. Can you honestly say that you've seen a time where I'm not antagonising someone? I can't. I know I'm a dick, but I'm not as irrational as you think. I can think a few-thousand times per minute; I've thought about this particular thing a few million. It's not a rash decision, promise. What can I do (besides waiting) to prove to you that I stand by this decision. If you're still wondering why now?, you have to admit it'd be weird to request a chat ban in the middle of some friendly conversation (even weirder since those are rare for me). Now can you please just do it. Me requesting this ban is the most mature thing I've ever done in my time on the wiki. Let me have my moment. MolMan 23:19, November 13, 2012 (UTC)
- Ban me now. I'll admit I was a tad irrational, but my decision still stands. I'd like my chat ban to end on the 20th; I'm sure I'll be needed when Hell breaks loose with the EoC update. Also, don't see it as a punishment, just a nice, needed, long-overdue break. MolMan 19:38, November 14, 2012 (UTC)

Forum summaries
[edit source]I did start trying to group relevant/linked forum topics together (I'll see if I can dig it out). It might be worth creating a forum archive summary of passed/rejected forums? I'd leave out those with nominator withdrawal as they rarely have any effect on the wiki, those that don't have any need to be a forum (such as a bug in game) and maybe those closed along the lines of be bold. Thoughts?
It saves us having to rely on older users who actually remember these threads, a lot of which are going inactive these days. cqm 11:42, 26 Nov 2012 (UTC) (UTC)
- Also (as I just noticed this) can you change the class of the monobook custom preload insert button from class="button" to class="editButton". Looks less out of place next to the other buttons in monobook. ([[MediaWiki:Common.js/preload.js|Handy link]]). The relevent line is:
$( '#lf-preload-button' ).html( '<input type="button" class="button" value="Insert" onclick="doCustomPreload()" />' );

- I've split the archives after getting tired of waiting for them to load (I doubt the js in the sortable table helps). I've also updated the DPL that can be used to generate the table rows and added an omitted forums list for those that really aren't worth listing. Sadly, I'm back in work as of tomorrow so this may take a couple of weeks to complete, although there seems to be a fair bit of interest from other users, assuming they have time. cqm 01:07, 30 Nov 2012 (UTC) (UTC)

[edit source]Just a little fluke. It's going by any page that has "a proofreader" in it, just use the parameter that lets you define what the parent page is. (I forget the name or I'd do it myself) MolMan 02:29, December 4, 2012 (UTC)
- That or it's because the SQL searches for anything that starts with the page name and ends in a numeral. You break things. If that's the case, it's not really something that takes priority because I like how I've managed to vastly improve the Archive List template (No redlinks, an unnecessary amount of potential archives), so I don't see reason to revamp the whole thing again for a little problem. That's not to say I won't try to fix it, but I can't drop everything and do it now. MolMan 02:33, December 4, 2012 (UTC)

- I heard you quit because you got fake new messages bubbles. Would you come back if I'd make a script that makes the thingy appear only when you actually have new messages? That shouldn't be hard. JOEYTJE50TALK pull my finger 18:33, January 17, 2013 (UTC)

I understand you still hang around in irc? So hopefully you'll see or be made aware of this message:
I'd just like to know exactly what is wrong with the compression bot. Is there anyone at all who would be able to take a second look? It's such an unrecognized mess.
I luff chu :( MolMan 16:00, February 23, 2013 (UTC)

This is just a notification to inform you that your bot accounts, Image optimisation bot and RSW image renamer, have been deflagged per discussion. Removal of the bot flags does not signify loss of trust in the owner. If you would like to continue operating them, please contact me or any other bureaucrat. Dtm142 (talk) 22:38, June 15, 2013 (UTC)
