## Christmas tree hat

I don't see it going anywhere but down from where it is right now. There's ten more days left to get the pieces for it, and while there certainly won't be as many of them as there are fish masks, the supply will be overwhelming. In the short term these all go down significantly. Anyone who buys and holds a christmas tree hat this early is fooling themselves. ʞooɔ 16:01, December 21, 2012 (UTC)

## Don't do that

And in answer to your question (which I didn't see because of the peculiarities of how the new message thing works), go into the page history, find the last good edit you want to keep, click on the timestamp of that edit, click edit on that old version of the page and then save without changing anything. ## Charrms CVU

There's no point in warning anyone whose charm log is completely blocked by the submission script (and thus sent to the CVU page). The big reason, is that the script already warns them with something they're guaranteed not to miss. On the other hand, not everyone notices or acknowledges their talk page. Another thing, is that these are only statistics. So if an edit does go through, it doesn't necessarily mean it's vandalism. You're a smart and mathy guy, so I assume you know statistics. Nothing on that page is concrete, and I'll be a bit upset if I have to come back to nag you on statistics. As a rule of thumb, |z| of 2.00 or less is fine for most small samples. 13:07, April 7, 2014 (UTC)

## Re:Infobox deity

That's ridiculous - we're here to present accurate information. If people don't know a word, that's their problem - not ours. Otherwise we might as well move Icyene to Angels or Vampyres to Vampires or whatever. 10:35, April 8, 2014 (UTC)

That last thing is indeed the case. We present the drop tables the best way we can - if people don't check, that's their fault. Likewise, we should be as accurate as possible here and using a term that's simply wrong instead of, you know, a correct one because people might not get it is exceptionally stupid. That's like telling your teacher you didn't understand an assignment and therefore had no correct answers and the teacher replying "I didn't bother explaining it correctly in the first place because I feared you might not get it - therefore I deliberately misled you." 14:25, April 8, 2014 (UTC)
You're basically saying we should not use a word that some people might not know (or not without another word that means approximately the same in that context in brackets) because...what exactly? No offence, but I have trouble taking you seriously. We aren't here to make sure our English isn't too difficult for "some" people - we're here to present information as accurately as possible. If that requires the usage of a word or formula or whatever nobody can understand (and for the record I am sure most people will know what an autonym is, and if not they can easily deduce its meaning and even then there's always google or a dictionary), then that's their problem. We're a source for RS related stuff - not a school. And we also aren't the simple English wiki - we're the normal English wiki. Frankly, "some people may not get it" is an invalid argument; again, we aren't here to account for people's linguistic skills. We can use the word "decapitate", can't we? I'm sure some people won't know what it means - so what? 14:40, April 8, 2014 (UTC)
No, people not understanding a word is NOT a reason for us to present inferior information. Besides, even if you don't know what 'autonym' means, you'd have to be pretty stupid still not to understand if you are shown that the autonym for Zamorak is 'Zamorakian' etc. 15:22, April 8, 2014 (UTC)
The question is why one would do that; not why one wouldn't. And there is no point in replacing a spot-on word with one that is less accurate. 16:55, April 8, 2014 (UTC)
Because the parameter is for a deity's autonym - that's the term used for this kind of words (Zamorakian, Saradominist, Menaphite, etc.). Those words aren't and shouldn't be described as adjectives. Autonyms are grammatically adjectives, yes, but the parameter isn't for adjectives but for autonyms. Otherwise Saradomin's adjective would be 'blue' or 'short-tempered' or something like that. 17:06, April 8, 2014 (UTC)
They could. They could also work out what "Elefint | Zamorakian" means. It's still less accurate a term; wrong even. If we use adjective, we should at least be consistent and replace the alignment parameter with "noun" and ascension by "verb phrase". 17:27, April 8, 2014 (UTC)
Sorry, but AFAIK you're saying we shouldn't be using autonym because some people may not know it. And that's against the entire purpose of a wiki. If whatever phenomenon is best described by the word "fshdgfohf", which nobody knows, we'd still use that. 17:55, April 8, 2014 (UTC)

## re:Accessing Jagex's HS API

You know, I actually have no idea at all what is going on with their API. It somehow randomly returns no data at all, and as far as I know, there's nothing I can do about it. Perhaps if someone would host a server that could fetch hs data, it's possible to fix this, but in my script I don't think there's anything I can do about it at all. 11:03, July 25, 2014 (UTC)

I honestly don't expect that many people using the stats command. If you want, you can do a test run, and see if your server can handle it easily enough. We can then also check if the error persists even on your server. Anyway, the hs data is just a couple of hundreds of bytes big, so that's probably not going to be that big of a load on your server, regardless of how busy the RSW chat is. The /lvl command is used just every now and then, so it's not that heavy at all, I think. 12:56, July 25, 2014 (UTC)
That seems to work really well, and it's really fast too. If you want, you could restrict it to allow rs hiscores only, to avoid others using it and straining your server, but if you do, please build in a way to get RS07 stats too. Thanks very much for making that server, the chat seems to have the full /lvl functionality back now. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope Jagex doesn't screw up something with your server's IP too, like they seem to have done with anyorigin. 17:09, July 25, 2014 (UTC)

I am trying to test your script and in the process need to create a script of my own in my Userspace. I can create User:Yayepicyay/jstests/test.js but cannot figure out how to make it an actual javascript in the same manner that your scripts are. Can you explain what I should be doing? Thank you, Yayepicyay (talk) 23:03, August 13, 2014 (UTC)

So just call it name.js and format like a standard javascript? Then put an importscript into wikia.js? Now how do I get the script to activate? Do I go into console and enter function? Yayepicyay (talk) 00:18, August 14, 2014 (UTC)

## Import stats java script

I have made progress on your import stats but am now experiencing different errors. See my version of the script at User:Yayepicyay/test.js. The important line is: $("#mw-content-text").prepend(wrapper); Since in your version, the wrapper was never actually put on the page. Now I get the error in console: Use of getUserData() or setUserData() is deprecated. Use WeakMap or element.dataset instead. requestNotifier.js:63 Cross-Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource at http://slot1.images.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb1408029593/common/skins/oasis/fonts/prociono/Prociono-Regular-webfont.woff. This can be fixed by moving the resource to the same domain or enabling CORS. Prociono-Regular-webfont.woff Use of getPreventDefault() is deprecated. Use defaultPrevented instead. jquery,mediawiki:48 Error: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: unsupported pseudo: regex jquery,mediawiki:71 Further when I click the button, the button press script never activates. Let me know if you see anything wrong with what I did, I am fairly new to javascript. Yayepicyay (talk) 13:49, August 16, 2014 (UTC) edited to make more readable. Yayepicyay (talk) 13:50, August 16, 2014 (UTC) I added a few console.log for debugging most of which I will remove since I know they work. The only other change is$("#mw-content-text").prepend(wrapper); right after wrapper, label, input, and button are declared and before wrapper.append( label ) I can take a screenshot but how would you like me to send it to you? Yayepicyay (talk) 19:31, August 16, 2014 (UTC)

Oh I also declared skills at the top of the code since it was repeatedly giving me a skills not defined complaint even after importing getHSData.js Yayepicyay (talk) 19:34, August 16, 2014 (UTC)

## belated re: hiscores not working

Is it still not working? If yes, do you have any ideas why not? I've got a spare afternoon tomorrow I can take a look at it in.

It seems to have been related to the imported script not loading before the other one starts loading - I've no idea why it happened. I can't tell if the script is working itself as I've got something blocking anyorigin.org, but the box loads :)
Managed to test it using a VPN - it works :) One small thing though, would it be possible to insert it into the top of the table? It looks out of place where it currently is.
I used mw.loader which is essentially a way of adding dependencies. I created a resourceloader module from your gethsdata script, and added it as a dependency to init, forcing it to wait until it had loaded before executing the rest. I use it when I'm dealing with libraries/large scripts I want to use but don't want to maintain a local copy of them myself.
I have a suspicion the bug has something to do with the anonymous function closure, I ran into a similar issue when rewriting importScript to get the freshest version when importing because I only ever use it for developing these days. I asked around at the time and whilst no one could explain why it did what it did (I couldn't even find it on stackoverflow), we came down to it being a side-effect of how the js engine is implemented. I never managed to reliably reproduce it either.

## Re:

I don't have a usual time anymore. I pop on often late nights Eastern Time, which is probably not very helpful for you. --LiquidTalk 03:57, October 14, 2014 (UTC)

I guess I missed the timeframe. :( Sorry. I was too busy this week anyway. --LiquidTalk 04:16, October 16, 2014 (UTC)

## Re: RfCCA

Firstly, I'm not as inactive as you think. I pop on a lot late nights EST. As for the question at hand, the primary issue that I saw was whether people were believed that his behavior justified not giving him the rank now. I treated all the comments of stating a desire to wait until the closure of the YG thread as "not yet"s, given that those users had an issue with an RfCCA now. I did give less weight to the opinions that I thought were based almost entirely on personal issues rather than substantive issues (though I should say this affected opposes more than supports). However, overall I believe that there was sufficient hesitation from the community that there was not consensus to close this request as successful. --LiquidTalk 16:31, January 10, 2015 (UTC)
