A bat is one of the pets in Betty's Dungeon during the Swept Away quest. He is one of the animals that are already in the right cage so you don't need to move it around, it shares this trait with the snail. If you are holding any of the animals while trying to go into a room with another animal in it the animal you are holding will be returned to its cage in the original room.
