The music maze cave is located near the Grotworm Lair, north-east of Rimmington and west of Port Sarim. The entrance is located at the same place as the dreamer's cave from the quest Song from the Depths and is accessible after its completion. The restless sleep potion is not required to enter, but any pets must be dismissed, and there are no monsters inside.

After the initial cave containing an acid pool, a distant echo from a singing voice indicates which way to take, with the first letter of each verse pointing in the cardinal directions of the correct door to the next chamber. There are four musical maze chambers where the right door must be chosen, with the first two verses being sung in the first, and the latter two in the third chamber. Choosing a wrong door in the first or third chamber will bring you to the second or fourth, but even when choosing the right door there, you will end back up in the first or third chamber.

After traversing the four musical maze chambers brings you to the final chamber containing ancient writings. These grant Constitution experience when reading them for the first time, and become incomprehensible afterwards. Leaving the final room brings you back outside.

After the player enters the cave, swim through the acid pool (requires 50 ) and go through the only door to the east. In the next cave, go west ("Wonders left from a time forgotten."), then south ("Secrets dwell in the bottomless depths."), then east ("Ensconced from those who have no right."), then north ("Numberless and unseen from the eyes above."). Read the northern ancient writings for 5,000 experience.

Then swim through another acid pool (requires 80 ) It will cause 50+ damage, but cannot kill you. Read the second wall for the remaining 25,000 experience.
