Wikian title

[edit source]

Hi, would you like to be nominated for the Wikian title? :) IsobelTalk page 20:07, 15 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hello! I if you think I deserve that title, so to speak, then I would be quite honored. :) Manfegor (talk) 21:15, 15 October 2020 (UTC)

Image taking guidelines

[edit source]

Hey Manfegor, I saw that you are uploading a lot of images. Are you aware of Help:Editing/Taking_images and RuneScape:Images_and_media_policy?

It seems that with the two examples here:

lighting detail is high or bloom is turned on, making for very bright spots on the shoulders. I think you need to turn that off so that the colors look uniform and all equal. Can you please keep in mind also the guidelines/policies, so that all new images are taken in the same way? Thank you! If you have questions, please let me know. AmoVos 07:36, 6 November 2020 (UTC)

Hello, Yes, I'm aware of those of course. And I can always retake the imgs, but just one issue.

  • Help:Editing/Taking_images#How_to_take_different_types_of_images - equipped item -> nowhere mentioned anything about the bloom. Only mentioned about midday skybox and AA, which was set. The Bloom only mentioned at Scenery and with Bloom off the shiny parts still appear, so the lightning quality needed to be set to low, but that one really not mentioned anywhere that I can find.
  • RuneScape:Images_and_media_policy#Lighting - Mentions only "natural lighting" (which could mean anything, also the shiny surfaces narutally shines... So natural :) ) and Daystone/Midday skybox.

Now I went back and tried to search with ctrl+f on those pages, still not much of a find for what I need.

So, sorry for the inconveniences, and I'll of course retake the images with low light details, and yes, every time a guy learn something, but I think this wasn't a "deserved" assuption that I didn't read the guides. Manfegor 09:36, 6 November 2020 (UTC)

First of all, taking images takes also some experience and looking at previous images to see what things should look like. Not everything is detailed out on those pages, because there is no golden rule for all specific settings.
With Natural lighting it is meant that we should make sure that no enhanced lighting features are used in the pictures. E.g. we need a midday/daystone skybox without bloom. It might be a bit confusing, I agree.
I did not assume you haven't read those pages, just wanted to check whether you had seen them already ;) AmoVos 09:57, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
I also have one further comment. It is often nicer to take equipped item images under an angle. So, not take it straigth from the front. That is really static. For example compare your images to https://runescape.wiki/w/File:Bandos_armour_equipped_(female).png. Hope it helps, let me know if you have questions. AmoVos 10:09, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
Thank you for the advices, although I have a question. You mentioned that the image should taken from an angle, but there is some image that was retaken because of that angle, like https://runescape.wiki/w/File:Augmented_Ahrim%27s_armour_equipped_(male).png Soooo, which method is the good method? But at the end maybe I'll just let others handle the imgs for now :) Manfegor 10:31, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
Alright, so I have asked around. We do not have guidelines on the angle of equipped item images. So I guess it is just a matter preference. If an image is retaken with the sole reason of changing the viewing angle, while the previous image was just as good, this is not desirable and also not a nice thing to do as other put in the effort to take high quality images as well as adding transparency. AmoVos 08:34, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
Okay i see, thank you very much for the help and the clear up for these things. :) Manfegor 21:03, 8 November 2020 (UTC)

Item weights

[edit source]

I noticed you've been adding weights to a lot of items that were missing the value - thanks for that! However, going forward, could you use a decimal point (e.g. 0.123) rather than a decimal comma (e.g. 0,123)? It didn't say this before, but I just now updated Template:Infobox Item#weight to clarify that weights should be entered using the former. It's a convention that Jagex seems to follow, and the Infobox code makes some assumptions that are broken when decimal commas are used. MrDew (talk) 16:56, 31 January 2022 (UTC)

Hello! Of course, thank you for the notice, I'll do with decimal point from now on, and I'll go back to correct those I wrote wrong. Thank you again. Manfegor 17:40, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
EDIT: As I see those were corrected, so the "do with decimal from now on" part remained. :) Manfegor 17:42, 31 January 2022 (UTC)

Do you have any old computers you played RuneScape on?

[edit source]

Hi Manfegor!

Recently we've been trying to recover lost versions of RuneScape that Jagex didn't save. We're asking anybody who played from 2001-2012 to check old computers, laptops, hard drives, or backups for old RuneScape files.

Your userpage says you've been playing since 2005, so it's very likely that you have one of the missing versions. It would be great if you could search any old devices you may have so that these older versions of RuneScape aren't lost forever.

If you have any questions, feel free to join our Discord which shows the specific files we are looking for in full detail, and where people can help guide you through the search. Alternatively you can read our page on the Lost Media Wiki, and leave a message on my talk page.

Hello! Unfortunately I can't help with this. I created the account in 2005 and played with it, but I took a break after and came back in 2019. My previous PCs were thrown away since, and on the current one unfortunately I haven't got any old RuneScape related stuff. Manfegor 21:50, 16 February 2022 (UTC)

MQC reqs

[edit source]

Hey Manfegor, I noticed you had copied the mqc reqs template I made (which is fine btw) due to me not updating mine so I've just updated it. :)  Salix (Talk) User:Salix 07:41, 9 April 2024 (UTC)

Hello! Cool, thank you! I'll go back to use your template in this case! Manfegor 15:11, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
