Talk page![edit source]

I've added in the part with the Doll room through to the end, but I forgot a lot of the details regarding the Hotel part (reception desk and the book of madness, etc). Can someone else edit in that bit, please? :) 14:32, October 27, 2014 (UTC)

tier 1-9 xp lamp values[edit source]

These are the xp values of all of the tier lamps (got them all in 1 run, no idea if you can get duplicates, though I'm assuming not)

Note that all of these values are based on having lvl99 in a skill when used on it, them being tiered and exact xp values suggests that the xp is likely static however.

tier 1: 1000xp

tier 2: 2000xp

tier 3: 4000xp

tier 4: 8000xp

tier 5: 16000xp

tier 6: 32000xp

tier 7: 48000xp

tier 8: 64000xp

tier 9: 96000xp 20:22, October 27, 2014 (UTC)

Glitch?[edit source]

I've played to the point where the little girl consumes the little boy. Am now trapped in a stairwell. Whenever I try to leave via the only exit I die instantaneously to the monster. I can't seem to find any way out. Is this a glitch/is there a fix for this? Brainwasher5 (talk) 22:51, October 27, 2014 (UTC)

It's no glitch, you're not moving out of the way fast enough as the monster will spawn right at the door you enter from. I would suggest turning graphics settings to low and moving to a world with less ping in order to get around it. pjJ4pBM.png Abyssal vine whip.png 22:58, October 27, 2014 (UTC)

Someone needs to rewrite the guide text.[edit source]

It is really difficult to follow the guide text for people trying to get the 37 minutes challenge because the current author included far too much irrelevant information. We don't need to know that the door south of us is locked permanently, etc.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 07:24, October 28, 2014 (UTC).

Surgeon's Ring and Mystery Meat[edit source]

Does the surgeon's ring give undercooked mystery meat too, or is that only a feature of the doctor's ring?

Also, the fact that there were surgeons in an insane asylum is kind of disturbing. That implies the patients were being, um, "experimented on", Unit 731 style. Then again, a Mahjarrat was in charge. They aren't exactly known for their strong moral compasses. 06:46, October 29, 2014 (UTC)

Symbols adding up to 102[edit source]

What is significant about the number 102? The article mentions the numbers on the wall add up to it, but why is this worth mentioning? Is 102 a reference to something? 06:49, October 29, 2014 (UTC)

I suppose in case someone didn't realise that they were tally marks and not just random scratchings on the walls. I believe tallies actually vary a bit across the world, so not everyone would immediately understand it. Nothing special here. (talk) 14:16, October 29, 2014 (UTC)

the book puzzle[edit source]

I don't know if i just got lucky but I actually followed the same color pattern on the puzzle as I saw on the bookshelf right infront of my character as I was doing the puzzle, and I don't mean an examinable bookshelf. 19:04, October 29, 2014 (UTC) -fyrzer

You got lucky. MolMan 19:05, October 29, 2014 (UTC)

Lamp chests[edit source]

Isn't it pointless having a section that says 'the chest is in this room'? Is there some problem with at least mentioning it when they come up in the main walkthrough? Quest point cape detail.png la mère de Bobby Quest point cape detail.png 14:15, October 30, 2014 (UTC)

It's because people interested in completing the quest in 37 minutes (for the surgeon's ring) don't want to see any extraneous information in the main walkthrough section. That's why it's necessary to split the lamp chests into a separate section. 23:10, November 1, 2014 (UTC)
Rather than take out information which is useful to people who are not doing the speed run, why don't we make a separate quick guide for the 37 minute run.Uthgaard (talk) 12:52, November 14, 2014 (UTC)

Untitled[edit source]

If you accomplish the timed mission before the not-dying or eating mission, will you have to redo the timed mission upon completing the undying one? Or will it still count for the ring?  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 15:13, November 3, 2014 (UTC).

Based on what the article says, it won't be counted until you complete the first two challenges. IP83.101.44.209 (talk) 16:13, November 3, 2014 (UTC)
Meaning that you would have to redo the timed challenge upon completing the preceeding challenges, then?  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 12:42, November 4, 2014 (UTC).
Or at the same time, yes. IP83.101.44.209 (talk) 19:26, November 4, 2014 (UTC)
Well, actually, now i re-completed the quest, and all three of my challenges got completed in the go, so yes, you can complete all three challenges in one go. 12:16, November 7, 2014 (UTC)

Avoiding the ghost and avoiding taking damage on the other side of the door[edit source]

Do you have to peek every door to avoid taking damage from the ghost? The first door I saw with smoke coming underneath the door, I right-clicked the door to peek, the ghost was there (and went away because I peeked), then when I entered the room, I did not take any damage.

However, in two subsequent doors (which did not have any smoke coming from underneath the door), I went through the door assuming the ghost was not there, but the ghost was there and started dealing damage until I retreated back through the door.

Also: If I am returning to a room that I have already safely been in, do I need to peek the door? Or does the ghost only appear in rooms that I have not yet entered? Can the ghost go to a room that I have already been in?
penguin 18:18, November 9, 2014 (UTC)
The ghost can appear behind most doors with a peek option (I've never seen him in the basement, though). Every time you enter a room, one of the doors may have smoke and have the ghost behind it; regardless of whether you came from that room or already went there before. The smoke is an animation, it's not there constantly. If you're not rushing, give the door you're going for a second before clicking it. Or always peek as a precaution. IP83.101.44.209 (talk) 20:02, November 9, 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, the ghost wont appear in the basement (starting from the door where you input the code you saw from the bathroom by peeping through the hole in the wall) but otherwise, allways be carefull when running for a door since you'll never know... Sometimes the smoke might suddently start coming out, incase you are too late to stop your character going through the door, just quickly spam-click the door you came in through to quickly go out again, that should prevent you from taking damage from him. 17:26, November 11, 2014 (UTC)
The best action when you see a yellow dot in a hallway is indeed to spam click the door you came from. That should make you leave before taking any damage. Running elsewhere is a bad idea. He can also appear in the main hall/lobby. IP83.101.44.209 (talk) 17:36, November 11, 2014 (UTC)

Ormod's Last Will and Testament[edit source]

Where can I find "Ormod's Last Will and Testament"? The patch notes only say, "maybe you were scared and didn't look at the floor". It doesn't state where. However the same trivia point did say that it was intented to be released in the basement in a room with 2 sarcophaguses. NXT and peeking under a door[edit source]

I'm having trouble peeking under smoking doors in NXT. The game just goes to 'Loading map' for me and eventually times out, leaving me at the house's entrance. 13:12, April 21, 2016 (UTC)

Incorrect or confusing language[edit source]

The end section didn't seem accurate. It started with Banishing the Ghosts, option 2. I don't remember the exact steps I took though so I'm unable to correct them.

I remember one of the instructions said something about southeastern or southwestern door, but the door wasn't south at all - it was just east or west.

Then, there was another inconsistency when it told me to go through the demon to reach a door, but the door it described ended up being the door that was not able to be opened. I had to find my own way out.

Also, I think there was at least one situation where the guide mentioned the direction of a door twice, which causes confusion if you expect there to be, say, a door to the southwest and there isn't one. 08:16, January 27, 2018 (UTC)
