The Hedge Knight's Dilemma is an achievement that requires the player to defeat Silverquill, the Dreadhog without receiving any reflect damage and only using melee. This requires a halberd-type weapon to achieve, as during the fight standing within 1 tile of Silverquill will reflect small amounts of damage regardless of style used. Silverquill will go into reflect mode at 54,800 and 26,400 hit points.

The player will be disqualified from the achievement if they deal any non-melee damage, including damage from deflection curses and blood necklaces.

Using walk instead of run will prevent getting accidentally going into melee distance.

Things that can disqualify achievement and so players should avoid:

  • Being within melee distance (1 tile away)
  • Combat familiars
  • Bleeds
  • Run toggled on
  • Aftershock perk
  • Crackling perk
  • Deflect curses
  • Area of effect abilities when hitting the blobs
  • Armour spikes
  • Deathtouch bracelet
  • God books
  • Abilities that hit more than 1 time (Assault, Hurricane, etc.)

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • The name of the achievement is a reference to the Hedgehog's dilemma, where hedgehogs attempting to move closer to share heat in cold weather but remaining apart so as to not hurt each other with their spines is used as a metaphor to describe humans being unable to be intimate with one another without leaving themselves vulnerable to harm.
