Zamorak's demon invasion was an event that was introduced on 20 June 2022. Following on from Twilight of the Gods quest, the event started the Legacy of Zamorak storyline, and featured invading Avernic demons across mainland Gielinor in hourly raids near major settlements.

Approximately once every hour[note 1], a strange portal appeared in either Ardougne, Burthorpe, Falador, Lumbridge, Varrock, or Yanille. This was announced in the chatbox with the message Game announcement.png Demons are attacking [city]! The portal would continuously spawn lesser demons in the area for players to battle. Once enough lesser demons were killed, their leader appeared. Defeating the leader caused all demons to disappear. The demons' life points scaled with the amount of players in the area.

The portal remained in the area for 15 minutes from its appearance, regardless if the invasion continued or not. The start of the invasion wasn't synchronized between worlds, so it was possible for an invasion to be active in a world and not in another.

Armadyl, Azzanadra, and Saradomin appeared with a combat level of 10,000 to help fight the demons, although they attacked one demon at a time and dealt minor damage.

Players could work toward receiving a maximum of four rewards per day, resetting at 00:00 UTC; in order, the player would receive a chaos die reroll token, followed by the three slivers in a random order. A maximum of 10 chaos die reroll tokens and 15 slivers each could be obtained from the event. Free players could only receive a chaos die reroll token each day and would not be able to progress towards any of the slivers. An empty backpack slot was required for a sliver to be obtained; otherwise, there was no drop for that group of 20 demons killed.

Each of the rewards could be obtained by either defeating 20 lesser demons or by defeating the demons' leader. Progress made by defeating the lesser demons was kept between invasions, but defeating the leader always caused the kill count to reach 20.
