Yew tree (Farming)

A farmed yew tree.

Members can grow their own yew trees at level 60 Farming by planting a yew sapling in a tree patch, giving 81 experience for planting the sapling and a further 7069.9 experience when the tree is fully grown. A nearby Gardener will ask for 10 cactus spines in payment for ensuring that the player’s tree will not die while growing. If buying the yew seed and spines on the Grand Exchange, it will cost about 51,687 coins per tree. After 400 minutes (just under seven hours) the tree is fully grown. It can be chopped as normal, and will also grow back normally when it is chopped down. Alternatively, once chopped down, it can be dug up using a spade, yielding some Yew roots in the process.

Cutting down a player-grown yew or magic tree in Falador Park is an achievement in the hard set of the Falador achievements.

An ideal place to plant yew seeds is in the tree farming patch in the Tree Gnome Stronghold as it is near both a bank and a grove of yews that may be cut while waiting for it to respawn.
