Yew sapling detail.png

The yew sapling is obtained by planting a yew seed in a plant pot filled with dirt, then using a watering can to water it. A player must wait at least one crop cycle in order for a yew seedling to sprout into a sapling in the plant pot.

A player must have at least level 60 in Farming to be able to make this item.

Planting the sapling in a tree patch will result in the chance of growing a yew tree in a player's tree patch. Players can ask the gardener for assistance in watching over their yew tree for a payment of 10 cactus spines, which may only be worth paying when the growth of the yew tree is important due to the cost of the cactus spines versus yew seeds. Only about 1/7 of planted yew saplings die when the soil is treated with supercompost, so it is normally cheaper on average to just use supercompost and not pay the gardener unless the player values their time more. However the planted tree's mortality rate can be further reduced for half the cost, to 1/14, with the use of ultracompost.
