Yak to the Shadows was the 3rd Yak Track allowing players to earn rewards by completing tasks, which lasted from 22 June 2020 to 2 August 2020. It features 2 prize tracks, free and premium, the latter of which gives a larger number of prizes. Players can unlock the premium track by having an active Premier Club membership or by purchasing a Premier Pass, costing 2 bonds.
Tasks[edit | edit source]
Upon logging in during the event, the Yak Track Task List appears in the players' backpack. This list can be read to access the tasks interface. The interface can also be opened through the Upgrades & Extras interface, by viewing event noticeboards promoting the event, through Moorrissey in Burthorpe, or through Activity Tracker once a task is pinned to it.
Players can complete either task to progress to the next tier. Task requirements are based on the player's level in the task skill, as well as if they are free-to-play or pay-to-play. Free-to-play players only have the options of free-to-play skills as tasks, whilst members have a mixture of free-to-play and members skills.
Players can skip tiers by using task skips. Everyone initially has two task skip tokens, and more can be purchased with bonds via the store or obtained from Treasure Hunter. One skip token is obtained upon completing task 25. Unused tokens carry over to the next Yak Track event.
Players who completed up to task 40 in the premium track of the previous Yak Track event have the first 10 tasks of this event halfway completed automatically.

General Skill Tips[edit | edit source]
Gathering Skills[edit | edit source]
Gathering skills that have divine locations will count towards the appropriate skill, as long as the divine location meets the minimum resource requirement. Extra resources gathered via dwarven tools' doubling ability count in most cases but do not count when cutting bamboo, which is likely an oversight/bug.
Extra items gained from effects such such as Stone Spirits, Elite outfits, or Juju potions will also count towards the necessary goal.
Combat Skills[edit | edit source]
For the slayer tasks, slayer tasks from any slayer master count. If players do not care about experience or slayer rewards, the lowest slayer master can be used to quickly complete tasks.
Non-Skill Tasks[edit | edit source]
Clue Scrolls[edit | edit source]
Clue Scrolls tasks are completed by doing Treasure Trails. Players will receive progress based on the level of clue completed. Easy clues will provide 1 progress, Medium clues will provide 2 progress, Hard clues will provide 3 progress, Elite clues will provide 4 progress, and Master clues will provide 5 progress.
Despite the interface claiming that progress is gained upon completing scrolls, the whole trail must be completed before any progress is rewarded.
Play Runescape[edit | edit source]
For Play Runescape tasks a point of progress is given for killing monsters and performing skilling actions. Gaining a point causes a three-minute cooldown before more progress can be gained, in a similar manner to currency events.
Kill Monsters[edit | edit source]
One point of progress is given for each monster killed, this includes monsters in Shattered Worlds.
Store[edit | edit source]
Players can purchase task skips from the event interface using bonds.
Skips | ![]() |
---|---|
4 skips | 1 Bond |
10 skips | 2 Bonds |
Rewards[edit | edit source]
There are 50 tiers, and players can receive cosmetics and items for progressing through each. Ironman accounts will receive only the cosmetic rewards. Free players will not get members rewards, such as large prismatic lamps or Silverhawk down. However, players who later become members will be able to claim any missed rewards. Completing all tiers gives +8% experience in Prayer, +6% in Agility and +6% in Herblore.
If tasks are completed without the premier pass and the player later gains a premier pass, all of the previous premium rewards will automatically unlock.
All weapons and armour received are cosmetic overrides.
