Wintumber Aurora was the 9th Yak Track which lasted from 29 November 2021 to 9 January 2022. Like all of its predecessors, it features two prize tracks, free and premium, the latter of which gives a larger number of prizes. Players can unlock the premium track by having an active Premier Club membership or by exchanging two bonds for a Premier Pass. This track is unique among others, as it had a direct influence on the 20th Anniversary celebrations. During the celebration, the track contributed to the golden partyhat hunt by awarding players with a golden partyhat shard upon completion of the 15th task.

Strategies[edit | edit source]

Only the base experience awarded for a respective skill will be counted toward a player's task progress. Additional experience gained through modifiers such as elite skilling outfit perks, advanced pulse cores, bonus experience, auras, and knowledge bombs among many other sources, do not count.

Skilling tasks[edit | edit source]

Agility[edit | edit source]

Experience gained from silverhawk boots does count. The Anachronia Agility Course can yield approximately 184,985 experience per hour.

Archaeology[edit | edit source]

Only base experience gained by excavating at dig sites and material caches, restoring artefacts, screening soil (including the use of Sift Soil from the Lunar spells), completing mysteries, adding pylon batteries at the Kharid-et Dig Site, and adding rex skeleton fragments at the Orthen Dig Site count for experience tasks.

Experience awarded for completing normal and special research expeditions, turning in complete tomes, and using the auto-screener v1.080 to screen soil doesn't count.

At level 120 Archaeology, approximately 400,000 base experience per hour can be achieved. This can be vastly increased with the use of boosts such as the master archaeologist's outfit, archaeologist's tea, master archaeology cape, Flow State relic power, and a better mattock. Although these things do not increase the base experience awarded, together they generate a hefty boost to a player's mattock precision, allowing many more artefacts to be excavated per hour. Artefacts from level 60 onward take the same amount of time to excavate, so sticking with the highest level hotspot a player can access using the above mentioned boosts, and then purchasing the missing materials on the Grand Exchange that are required to restore the collected artefacts, will get a player through the task much faster. Alternatively, restoring a stack of damaged artefacts a player already has allows the experience tasks to be completed in just a few minutes.

Construction[edit | edit source]

Experience gained from constructing God Statues does not count towards the tasks. Building with mahogany planks can yield approximately 600,000 experience per hour.

Cooking[edit | edit source]

Extra items created by the modified sous chef's toque and portable ranges will count toward the task total, with the duplicated items yielding one extra progress per activation. As such, having a Brooch of the Gods equipped while cooking on portable ranges will help speed this task up. Fish that are caught and cooked with the Bait and Switch relic power active do count for this task, however they will not count if the 'consume all' option on any of the various shark outfits is enabled.

Fish take 2.4 seconds each to cook. Assuming maximum efficiency, as swapping cooked fish for raw ones and interacting with a range takes time, at most only 1,300 fish per hour can be cooked. This can be increased only through the extra fish produced from using a portable range and modified toque.

Crafting[edit | edit source]

The crafting plot in a Clan Citadel works for this task. Crafting black dragonhide shields can yield approximately 550,400 experience per hour.

Divination[edit | edit source]

Energies obtained from conversion of memories count towards task completion and can be used for faster task completion. Using the divine-o-matic vacuum also works. This should be avoided however, due to the vacuum's caveat of destroying 50% of the resources it gathers. Resources that are destroyed by the vacuum do not count toward a player's total. As such, the convenience of not having to wait while memories are converted into energy using the rift is negated by the fact that they are gathered at half the speed.

It is important to note that the Divine Conversion relic power will instantly convert all memories in a player's inventory into energy at once. Use of said relic is superior over the divine-o-matic in this case, potentially by double, because it eliminates the conversion delay without the 50% penalty to harvested resources. The only potential downside to this method are its requirements.

In order to excavate the required artefacts, restore them, and build the relic, levels 98 in Archaeology and 86 in Invention are required. Both skill levels can be boosted, with the latter being boostable all the way from level 69 using an extreme invention potion. Players with at least level 81 Invention can use the weaker super invention potion, otherwise a third requirement of level 95 Herblore comes into play as the extreme invention potion cannot be traded or assisted. This is boostable from level 88, however boosting beyond +2 levels requires the player getting lucky with an advanced pulse core blast which will apply a short boost of +7. This would then allow the player to mix the extreme invention potion that will be used to craft the relic. This process is only required once, as relic powers are unlocked permanently.

Approximately 12,000 energy can be harvested per hour.

Dungeoneering[edit | edit source]

Experience from Sinkholes doesn't count towards the Dungeoneering tasks. With an experienced team, over 1,000,000 experience per hour can be easily achieved.

Farming[edit | edit source]

The task counts the number of items gathered from patches, and not the number of harvesting actions; even if multiple items are yielded in a single harvesting action, the amount of progress points is calculated based on the items received. As a result, harvesting stinkshrooms and tombshrooms can often complete a task in a single harvest, especially with the completion of the elite Morytania achievements set.

Always have fully grown plants in all patches possible. A list can be found here. Crops should be planted in as many patches on both the Allotment/Flower/Herb patches list and Herb-only patches list as a player can access for maximum efficiency. In addition, boosts to crop survival rate and yield such as the perks of the master farmer outfit, the use of ultracompost, magic secateurs (preferably on the tool belt), juju farming potions, the giant ent familiar, and the greenfingers aura to name a few, can speed up the process considerably. The extra items gathered from the aura and potion will count for the task. Items gathered via the farming cape perk do not count, so make sure to take the cape off before harvesting any crops.

With farming yield tasks typically ranging between 20 and 60 items, the repeated use of supreme growth potions to skip growing times, assuming the player has enough beans to do so, can allow for task completion in mere minutes. This is especially handy for players who have not planted any crops in advance.

Fishing[edit | edit source]

The dwarven fish extractor set to double catch mode counts towards these tasks. Consuming fish with any variant of the shark outfit counts towards the task, but extra fish gained from the outfit's extra-catch chance while in consume mode do not. In contrast, extra fish caught by the outfit while it's set to catch fish do count. Likewise, a fishing cape can be used to occasionally catch another fish which also adds to the total. Catching fish from divine locations do work, however if the Shared Knowledge buff from Memorial to Guthix is active, it will not count towards the task progress because there is no yield. Any fish that are caught with the Bait and Switch relic active also count for these tasks, as do any additional catches provided by Deep Sea Fishing boosts.

Fish consumed by the activation of the Furnace perk do not count, nor do baron sharks caught from the effect of a perfect juju fishing potion. It is recommended to fish something other than sharks if drinking them. The VIP skilling area is likely faster and far less effort than catching sharks, despite the chance of also catching fish that don't count. Fish duplicated by a waterfiend familiar do not count either.

While fishing hotspots that require a high Fishing level, around 360 fish can be fished per hour.

Firemaking[edit | edit source]

Using a pitch can allows a player to burn logs extremely quickly. Use an action bar setup where a log is lit on one key and a Beast of Burden item is withdrawn on another. Then use the attuned crystal teleport seed and teleport to the Trahaearn Clan district in Prifddinas. Create a line of fires from there, and teleport back. The cheap alternative but slower method is using portable braziers.

Logs burnt via activation of the Pyromaniac perk count towards the task. Burning evil tree kindlings at the bonfire after killing an Evil Tree also count towards the task, but using them to light the tree on fire will not. Burning protean logs, cremating bones, and burning logs using the Book of Char do not count.

Approximately 950 logs per hour can be burned.

Fletching[edit | edit source]

Fletching dragon darts can yield approximately 1,500,000 experience per hour.

Herblore[edit | edit source]

Experience gained while participating in the Herby Werby minigame does count toward task completion.

Assuming a player already has the ingredients, mixing extreme prayers can yield 3,300,000 base experience per hour. For a potion with tradable ingredients, spirit attraction potions can yield 3,025,000 experience per hour.

Hunter[edit | edit source]

The use of a hunter skill training dummy stack can quickly provide lots of experience. Using protean traps does count towards experience progress. The experience gained during Big Chinchompa also counts, though lamps bought from the reward shop do not.

Hunting ornate tortles can yield approximately 361,215 experience per hour.

Mining[edit | edit source]

Additional ores gathered by having the relevant bottled stone spirit in the inventory count towards the completion of the task. Using the highest tier ore box available reduces the amount of bank trips.

Coal can be mined extremely fast at the Living Rock Caverns from concentrated coal deposits. Use of the magic golem outfit is recommended as it makes creatures in the caverns become passive. Alternatively the fury shark outfit can also be used. To avoid banking, use of signs of the porter and optionally a grace of the elves necklace is recommended. Perfect juju mining potions can be used to keep stamina up in conjunction with stone spirits. Varrock armour 1 and completion of the easy and medium New Varrock achievements to avoid wearing the Varrock armour and double its activation chance, help as well. Premier Club members can make use of the sign of the porter boost from the premier artefact to send half of all gathered materials straight to the metal bank.

Prayer[edit | edit source]

The bonecrusher counts for tasks that require bones to be buried. To save money, a player can therefore kill skeletons in Lumbridge Catacombs, blue dragons in the Taverley Dungeon, or similar. Players who use super antifire potions will not be hurt by steel dragons at range, as they only use dragonfire outside of melee distance. They can be found in the Brimhaven Dungeon and Brimhaven Dungeon resource dungeon.

Another way to collect dragon bones is by killing Vindicta in the Heart of Gielinor. This boss commonly drops 150–250 noted dragon bones, however the bones must first be banked and then withdrawn to be buried individually in order for this to work. Cremation and offering bones or ashes at the Ectofuntus, gilded altar, or the Chaos Temple in the Wilderness, all count towards the task progression. Scattering the ashes using an attuned ectoplasmator or consuming the ashes using an infernal urn doesn't work.

The fastest way to complete this task is to stand at a bank, fill an inventory with the desired bones, and save that to a bank preset. Drag the bones to an action bar and select a key binding. Simply spam the key bind and when finished, quick withdraw from the bank using the bone preset. Auto sanctifiers can be used to gain increased experience using the above method. The dragon rider amulet is another alternative for dragon bones, though it does not stack with the auto sanctifier.

Several thousand bones can be crushed per hour with the bonecrusher under the right conditions.

Runecrafting[edit | edit source]

Unstable essence works for these tasks. At level 99 Runecrafting, the Runespan can yield around 93,000 experience per hour. Handing in runes to the yellow wizard and rune dust to the runesphere count towards Runecrafting tasks. Experience gained from crafting seasinger's equipment also counts. Players with access to the player-owned port may find it helpful to stockpile Chi beforehand.

Slayer[edit | edit source]

A slayer skill training dummy can provide lots of experience quickly. Corrupted Scarabs in Menaphos provide easy non-combat Slayer experience which can be found fairly easy with dedicated Friends Chats. Experience gained from Reaper tasks does count.

At a high combat level, 547,200 experience per hour can be achieved, but it is largely dependent on the slayer tasks that are randomly assigned.

Smithing[edit | edit source]

Experience gained from protean bars does count. Experience gained from the smithing plot in Clan Citadel does count. Experience gained from repairing burst pipes in the Artisans' Workshop also counts. As of this Yak Track, folding alloy bars does count, however it is extremely slow and not recommended. Experience gained from urns does not count.

At a high Smithing level, over 1,000,000 experience per hour can be achieved by smithing burial armour.

Summoning[edit | edit source]

Making talon beast pouches can yield approximately 2,741,040 experience per hour.

Thieving[edit | edit source]

Experience gained from safecracking counts, but the experience from turning the spoils in to Chief Thief Robin does not.

At a high Thieving level, around 399,160 experience can be gained per hour by pickpocketing Meilyr workers.

Woodcutting[edit | edit source]

Going to uncharted islands and cutting golden bamboo is faster and less intensive than cutting magic trees. Note however that the dwarven chainaxe's doubling effect does not work for golden bamboo even though it does provide double the resource. Using Superheat Form counts towards these tasks. This can remove the need for banking, which is especially useful when cutting lower level trees. Gathering from divine locations does work towards these tasks. However if the Shared Knowledge buff from Memorial to Guthix is active, no resources are gained and thus it doesn't count towards progressing the task.

At a high Woodcutting level, around 360 bamboo per hour can be cut.

Other tasks[edit | edit source]

Clue Scrolls[edit | edit source]

Clue scroll tasks are completed by doing Treasure Trails. Players receive progress based on the level of the trail that is completed. Easy trails provide 1 progress, medium trails provide 2 progress, hard trails provide 3 progress, elite trails provide 4 progress, and master trails provide 5 progress. An entire clue scroll must be completed before any progress is rewarded.

Kill Monsters[edit | edit source]

The monsters in Lumbridge Catacombs such as corpse spiders can be killed at an extremely fast rate using the smoke devil familiar with Smoke Devil scroll (Dust Cloud)s. The lesser demon deacon familiar with the Lesser Demon scroll (Ring of Fire)s can also be used to greatly increase kills per hour.

Alternatively, dagannoth within the Lighthouse can be quickly killed with area-of-effect weapons and abilities. Dagannoth are always aggressive regardless of combat level and have relatively lucrative seed drops. By using melee armour, a halberd-range weapon, a demon horn necklace, and the auto-collect function of the seedicide, both Prayer and combat tasks can be quickly completed without much effort while also making a modest profit. If aggression ceases, simply climb the southern ladder and exit through the western door, and run to the southernmost point of the room. Upon re-entering, the dagannoth in the area will be aggressive again. Similarly, though lower risk and lower reward, bandits at the Bandit Camp will never cease aggression if the player has a Saradomin or Zamorak item equipped. The best place to kill them is in the bar.

A fast alternative can also be killing the rabbits that spawn in Burthorpe. Nine rabbits spawn very near to each other, and can be killed quickly with a halberd-range weapon, laceration boots, and the repetitive use of Bladed Dive. Bladed Dive cooldown is reset when the target is killed thus leading to a fast, intense method.

You can also attempt to get champion's scroll if you have not already completed them, as they require killing weak enemies such as zombies that can be easily cannoned. This strategy also works for Prayer tasks as long as the enemy drops ashes or bones.

Another way to complete this task being of minimum intensity, albeit slower than active methods consisting of damaging multiple targets in one attack, is to kill monsters in Daemonheim solo, especially the Skeletal Horde boss, leaving one tunnel open to cause an infinite spawn of skeletons that will always be aggressive. If auto-retaliation is on, the kills will be done automatically. It is recommended to turn public chat off as the Divine skinweaver will constantly tell the player to close the tunnels and turn the game tab setting to "all" in order to follow the task's progress.

Around 4,000 monsters per hour can be killed.

Marks of War[edit | edit source]

Bosses in God Wars Dungeon and Heart of Gielinor may be killed for relatively quick Marks of War.

A maximum of 1,000 can be gained in an hour.

Play minigames[edit | edit source]

Points are rewarded based on thaler received. As such it is five times faster to play the games on minigame spotlight for thaler. Playing minigames that do not yield thaler doesn't count for this task.

There are only six minigames for free-to-play, and only three of them yield thaler: Fist of Guthix, The Great Orb Project, and Cabbage Facepunch Bonanza. Fist of Guthix and The Great Orb Project require multiple players, and there are almost never any players at either minigames. Therefore, Cabbage Facepunch Bonanza is often the only viable option. Thaler can be earned without actually playing, as the player only need to spend time in a game; if they do not wish to play, they could simply enter the waiting area, where they would be automatically transported into the arena where they would be eventually eliminated. This requires only a single click (to enter the waiting area) about every 105 seconds (even longer if there are other active players) to gain thaler requiring nearly no attention.

When playing the spotlit minigame, 60 thaler per hour can be earned.

Secret Santa Claim[edit | edit source]

You can claim your gift every two hours by talking to Sir Desmond Wellingtons KBE located south of the bank in Burthorpe.

Secret Santa Donation[edit | edit source]

You can donate a minimum of 10,000 worth of items or coins by talking to Sir Desmond Wellingtons KBE at any time.

Skill and Kill[edit | edit source]

For Skill and Kill tasks a point of progress is rewarded for the first skilling action performed or monster killed in three-minute intervals. The cooldown timer doesn't start from the time when you gain progress, so if you are not continuously performing actions eligible for progress, the time between two points can be shorter. For example, if intervals start at :03, :06, :09, :12, etc., then it is possible for points be gained at :05 and :06 since these times lie within unique 3-minute intervals.

Various actions may not award points, such as creating signs of the porter, cooking Sailfish soup, making primal extract, or spinning flax with Spin Flax.

A maximum of 20 points per hour can be gained.

Yakstory[edit | edit source]

Talk to the Queen of Snow in the Yak Track area in Burthorpe, just south-west of Challenge Mistress Fara. Exiting the dialogue after asking "What brings you to Gielinor this year?" will complete the task.

Secret Santa[edit | edit source]

The interface for donating to Secret Santa.

During the event Sir Desmond Wellingtons KBE organises a Secret Santa operation. Players can donate gifts at him, which are then redistributed to players claiming gifts on the same world. Donating can be done at any time, but claiming gifts has a two-hour cooldown. There are two related tasks in the Yak Track for donating and claiming gifts from the Secret Santa, but the activity can be participated also without one of these tasks active. All values in Secret Santa are calculated using the Grand Exchange market value.

Each donation must have a value of at least 10,000 coins. A donation can consist of any number of one tradeable item that the player has in their backpack or money pouch as long as the total value of the donation is over 10,000 coins.

If all the gifts donated by players have ran out, claiming yields a Christmas pudding, mince pie, mulled wine, roast potatoes, turkey drumstick, or Yule log.

Donating a value of 100,000 or more in items or coins for 15 days during Yak Track awards the player a medium prismatic lamp each day and the [Name] the Secret Santa title on the 15th day. The 100,000 worth of donation can be split into multiple donations in a single day. Donating a value of 200,000,000 or more in items or coins in one donation awards the player the [Name] the Top Secret Santa title after closing the Claim Gift interface.

Ironman players can make donations to obtain the titles and for task progress, and can also claim gifts, but they will always receive one of the default holiday food items listed above when claiming a gift. Initially, any items they donated were destroyed rather than added to the pool, but a hotfix on 7 December 2021 changed it so that they are added to the gift pool. However, there are some mechanisms in place that prevent easily moving items between ironman and non-ironman accounts as claiming a gift from otherwise empty pool doesn't guarantee an item that an ironman had just donated.

Store[edit | edit source]

Players can purchase the access to premier rewards and task skips from the event interface using bonds.

Package Bond.png Price
Premier pass 2
Task skip tokens x 4 1
Task skip tokens x 10 2

Rewards[edit | edit source]

There are 50 tiers, and players can receive cosmetics and items for progressing through each. Ironman accounts will receive only the cosmetic rewards. Free players will not get members rewards, such as large prismatic lamps or silverhawk down. However, players who later become members will be able to claim any missed rewards.

If tasks are completed without the premier pass and the player later gains a premier pass, all of the previous premier rewards will automatically unlock.

All weapons and armour received are cosmetic overrides.

To claim the rewards from a tier of the track successfully, you must have enough space in backpack for the rewards.
