Werewolves are bipedal canine monsters found in Canifis and in the God Wars Dungeon. They have low defence for what their combat level suggests. Werewolves in Canifis appear as normal humans (level 28 with 1000 life points) until damaged, unless the player wields Wolfbane, in which case they remain human. It is not possible to kill their human form in one hit to prevent transformation, as the maximum hit against a human werewolf is 1,000--they then gain 1,250 health from transformation. Whether killed in human form or werewolf form, they will always drop wolf bones.

Level 89 werewolves can be found in the God Wars Dungeon. They also have better defence and accuracy than their Canifis counterparts, and are also aggressive to players not wearing an item of Zamorak. They are spread out all over the dungeon, are most prevalent in Zamorak's camp, but are not found in Bandos' camp. Werewolves can be killed here for a Slayer assignment, but this is not recommended due to the remoteness and danger.

They only count towards a werewolf Slayer when killed in werewolf form.

Strategies[edit | edit source]

While Wolfbane can prevent them from transforming (including using Wolfbane and another off-hand weapon), its low stats can make kills relatively slow. The reforged Sunspear can be used to prevent the transformation and is much stronger, but requires completion of River of Blood.

Food is generally unnecessary in Canifis, as a bank is nearby and can be used to automatically heal. Roavar in the bar sells moonlight mead for 5 coins, which heals 440 life points with no negative effects. For low level players, werewolves can also be safe spotted with Ranged or Magic over tables in the bar, the general store, or the meat shop.

A Werewolf transforming.
A player using the safe spot in Rufus's food store to kill a werewolf.

Canifis can be used as a respawn hub. When the player dies, they can respawn in Canifis and pick up any dropped items quickly.

Mod Timbo: "1/1280 if you hit the RDT, requires T4 luck to be worn in order to get a hold of it. Of course there are tons of different ways to access the RDT so it changes massively depending on what you're fighting, what you're wearing etc."
  4. ^ Vecna skull requires tier 4 luck. Chance is 1/1280 per roll of the rare drop table with the tier 4 luck requirement.[d 3]
  5. ^ Cheese+tom batta indicates a roll for Hazelmere's signet ring without tier 4 luck.
  6. ^ Blurberry Special indicates a failed 1/10 roll for Hazelmere's signet ring with tier 4 luck.
  7. ^ Hazelmere's signet ring requires tier 4 luck. Rarer than the vecna skull.

Universal drops[edit | edit source]

Universal drops are dropped by nearly every monster outside of Daemonheim.
These items are dropped alongside main drops.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Werewolves used to drop hard clue scrolls but a hidden update changed this to medium clue scrolls.
  • Werewolves were previously known as "Wolfman" and "Wolfwoman", and simply "Man" and "Woman" before they transformed.
  • Killing a werewolf during transformation causes them to not play a death animation and instead freeze for a few seconds before disappearing.
  • Causing a werewolf to transform and leaving it alone by running away will cause them to eventually change back in their human form, but retaining their werewolf health of 2,250.
