A water source is any source of drinking water in RuneScape, excluding rivers. Players can collect water with a container from specific sources, which are marked with an icon ().
There are many different kinds of water sources all over RuneScape, each bearing slight differences from others.
- Sinks are usually found in buildings, such as houses, castles, etc.
- Fountains are usually present in the open areas of building complexes (e.g. cities).
- Waterpumps serve similar function to fountains.
- Water barrels, which are usually found in farms.
- Wells are found in cities. There is a well in Lumbridge near the swamp.
- A Large Geyser can be found in Neitiznot and in the God Wars Dungeon.
- Some cacti in the Kharidian Desert can be used to refill waterskins by using a knife.
- An outdoor tap is located on the outside east wall of the Poison Arrow Pub in East Ardougne.
Water is used in many cooking recipes, including pies, wine, and bread. To get water, click on a container in the inventory and then click on the water source. Alternatively, players can click on the water source and select the "Fill" option to quickly fill containers. Containers that can be filled include buckets, jugs, bowls, waterskins, vials or watering cans. Clay can also be used on a water source to create soft clay and pots of flour can be used on a water source to create dough. The player must be standing next to the water source to be able to use it.
Apart from the common water sources, members can also build a water source in their player-owned houses. With level 7 Construction, they are able to build a kitchen and a water pump in it.
Water is also used when travelling through the desert in the form of waterskins. These can be bought from players or from the guard at the Shantay Pass. The desert amulet (from the Desert achievements task set) provides two doses of water for waterskins from cacti when worn.
[edit | edit source]
- Complete Dealing with Scabaras to gain the ability to make an enchanted water tiara. This can be made by using water runes on a water tiara and can be used as a substitute for waterskins.
- Complete Dream Mentor to unlock the Humidify spell which will fill all water containers in the inventory.
Water sources close to a bank[edit | edit source]
Be aware that every week, a polar bear stays at a well as part of the Penguin Hide and Seek D&D, making the "Fill" option of water sources disappear. You can still use the well by using your containers on it.
