Re:JPEG[edit source]

Hi, as to your questions regarding whether or not to remove a Jpeg tag after replace the image, please do, since leaving the tag would only add confusion. As for transparency, if your unsure how to or don't have the programs/time to add it it, simply add: {{transparency}} to the image to tag it for transparency and another editor will add transparency a little later. Hope that helps, if you have any other questions feel free to contact me via my talk page again.

Hi Zangasta, it's good to see how you add more pictures ;) But like the Camo Outfit & the Studded Armour, I see you are wearing a snowball. This might be confusing, because the picture is about the set, and nothing else must be worn then. Think about this in the future.

As to your question, you'll need to upload them under a different file name and then mark the Jpeg counter parts for speedy deletion (using {{D|Reason}} ) since they'll be duplicates.

Re: Skill Data[edit source]

The javascript version might not have worked if you are not running Internet Explorer 6 or 7. I did not create a version that works with Firefox, etc. Another reason why it might not work is security settings on the computer.

As it happens, the original (the one I use) is actually written in php too (here), but I wrote a javascript version so people could run on their own PC (as my php version also records history, etc, so I can monitor my daily progress, etc.).

Looking at your user page, I see your working on cleaning up the images. I personally find Paint.Net particularly useful. By setting the primary colour alpha value to "0" (i.e. transparent) and the blending to "Overwrite" and trying different tolerances (I usually find between 10% and 50% work well depending on image) on the paint bucket filling I can easily make regions of "similar" colour transparent.

This is particular useful when cleaning up jpeg images, because jpeg does not store exact colour, so even "white" pixels in a jpeg background are not a pure white but different shades of off-white. Because the adjacent "white" pixels are not the same shade of white, the paint bucket in some basic graphic editors (like windows paint) does not colour more than a few pixels at the time. This is where the paint bucket tolenance comes in useful.

A quick note to let you know I now have a new way of getting skill data into my pages that does not require the extra formatting stage. It can now use the raw numbers copied from the runescape hiscore web site. See User:Amaurice/Update Skills for more details. Amaurice talk 15:52, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
The wikia has had the parse functions installed (see here for documentation) for a while, but more recently they have added the string function extension (see here for documentation) which, although primative, is enough to handle parsing the Runescape lite hiscores. :-) Amaurice talk 16:45, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Re: Logging in... out... in... out...[edit source]

Yes, I am getting the problem too. I find it frustrating.

Apparently the wikia team are working on the problem, as mentioned by Senna in the forum discussion *here*.

Re: Template:Skill minimum rank[edit source]

Went ahead and made the "approximately" change myself. If there's anything else you want to do with it don't hesitate to be bold and go ahead. I'm thinking that some way to allow average users to update it might be useful—any ideas? Skill 17:27, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I guess we'll have to do without it, it'll probably make it unnecessarily complicated if we decide to do something like that. There might be something else we can do, though, but I don't have any ideas. Skill 20:06, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Sig[edit source]

Errr isnt ur sig a bit unoriginal (user:tarikochi)? Maybe you should change it.

Re: Refresh problem for templates?[edit source]

The wikia has a "cache" of generated pages. When a page is viewed, if it is in the cache, then it will display from that instead of generating the page again (even if a template it uses changes).

For example, if you view your user page BEFORE updating your skill data, then when you go back to looking at your user page it will show the old data. These cached pages do get cleared, so eventually the new data will be shown. I don't know how long it takes for pages to expire from the cache, but it could be something like an hour or so.

I hope that helps. Amaurice talk 09:15, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Re:Needing help?[edit source]

Oh, thanks, forgot about that. But I've given up on that welcome template, now I just use Template:Welcome Notice. White partyhat old.png C Teng talk 11:26, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

RE:Bank-organising irritants[edit source]

It may be useful as a section of Bank organisation, but not as a category. A category is for a select few, but "Bank-organising irritants" is vague as every item can be viewed as annoying to store. Ex., I only have one abyssal whip, only one of this quest item, etc. It's useful for the aforementioned page, but should not be a category. Full Slayer Helmet! Yes, for those items you may only have one at a time. Most, if not all, are reobtainable. This is covered by the Destroy in the Template:Infobox Item. If you really want to see if this category can exist, make a YG thread about it (I'll oppose, but we'll see what others think about it). Full Slayer Helmet! I edited your userpage[edit source]

I edited your userpage because it was creating some red templates that were showing up on Special:WantedTemplates. All the changes I made can be found here. svco4bY.png3Gf5N2F.png 14:59, October 24, 2010 (UTC)

images[edit source]

Any images uploaded on the wiki must meet certain criteria. The pic "Mind litter" for that userbox does not, sorry.--Degenret01 12:36, April 6, 2011 (UTC)

There's no need to give another reason; your image simply didn't meet the criteria for uploaded images. If it's not to be used on a mainspace article, then it can't be uploaded. You can check here for a further explanation. Suppa chuppa Talk 15:21, April 6, 2011 (UTC)
Does not meet the criteria is absolutely a reason. However, to post an image from image shack is fairly simple, just copy and past the url onto the page you want and the image should show up. It's that simple. Suppa chuppa Talk 15:41, April 6, 2011 (UTC)
If you're looking for a picture that says "atheist", why not use Zanik's chathead? She helped you kill her god's avatar - You can't get much more atheist than that :P Obsidian charm.png Magma2050 T C E Obsidian charm.png 23:58, April 6, 2011 (UTC)

Re: Advlog updater?[edit source]

I didn't know there was a secret until you mentioned it !!!

On doing some investigation, it seems that the Jagex site does not always return the adventure log. I'm not sure whether the limit is based on the number of requests during a given time, or on the number of bad requests.

Until today, the AmauriceBot would just ignore the bad request responses because there are several people who have configured autoupdates for player names that no longer exist (maybe deleted, renamed or membership expired).

I have now changed the AmauriceBot to have a list of bad player names to ignore (so it won't bother updating for them) and changed it to log warning about any other players it fails to get the adventure log for.

This means that I should now spot in the AmauriceBot log when it fails to get the adventure log for someone. Amaurice talk 14:54, October 16, 2011 (UTC)

Short term goals[edit source]

You've got "Dungeoneering" next to the summoning icon. ;-)
