Nice going with the quests[edit source]

Nice going with the quests. Almost there now. :)

Since, like me, you do the tears of guthix every week, you might like doing the jade vine each day (reward from the Back to my Roots quest), for 1500 farming and 2500 slayer experience.

Rather than getting your farming and slayer up the last level or two for the quest, you could just make some Garden pies (+3 farming) and Wild pies (+5 slayer). You could get someone to assist you with cooking the Wild pies (requires 85 cooking). I can help if I'm on at the same time as you.

I believe you only need the farming and slayer for planting and killing the jade vine. Once you have completed the quest, with the rewards, your farming will be 53+, and your slayer will be just 17.9k off level 59. You just need enough Wild pies after the quest to fight the jade vine 8 more times (each day), and you'll have your 59 slayer in just over a weeks time.

Just sharing a thought. :) Amaurice talk 14:45, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Stealing[edit source]

I know I stole your costume room page...I was wondering if I could take your minigame page as well and make it fit my needs? Wintumber tree.png Atlandy 16:34, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, you (the wiki) may want to think of making templates avail to all users....It would be kinda cool Wintumber tree.png Atlandy 19:24, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

A small favor...[edit source]

Hi it's Jks 777. I just spent 10k on wf vials. do you think that you could post on the forums "selling 1k Water filled vials. then I could give you 1k wf vial and later you could give me my 100k+ that you sell them for. This is because when i got muted they said i couldnt go on the forums. Please? thx.--J k s 777 01:14, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Hiatus[edit source]

Hmm, I don't really plan to be active. And anyway, I haven't played consecutively since.... June? Not even ;). Anyway, I just log on for aesthetic reasons. Good job passing me, though. From the outdated model, Thieving-icon.pngMomento Mori Real PainNot Champagne02:15, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Re: My House[edit source]

It's mainly done using a table with each cell of the table filled with a POH room template. Have a look at the documentation on the Template:POH room as that hopefully gives some examples.

Best to just start by placing the rooms, then adjust the door positions appropriately, then add the decoration images, etc, afterwards using the "text" parameter to each POH room (if you want to do the sort of thing I did).

Hope that helps. Have a go and let me know if you have difficulty. Amaurice talk 16:15, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

I saw you had the list of rooms, so I've put in the rooms for the ground floor as an example. You can then add door positions, etc. Let me know if you have any difficulties. Amaurice talk 16:22, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Cheatbase[edit source]

It wasn't me looking for cheats, in that column it just says I looked but couldn't find any for posting. No offence taken.--Jonru 13:57, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Rewards[edit source]

I did the event (Just sort of went around doing whatever) I built a snowman with a hat, went to ice queen and got a snowglobe, built another ranger snowman, and then I got the snowman emote. I dont remeber it even telling me i got the emote. The whole area was just people running around, it looked like utter chaos Wintumber tree.png Atlandy 19:56, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Re: Farming Hunter Construction Help[edit source]

I raised my Construction to lvl 26 by using planks and making chairs and some quests. Farming lvl is 18 becuase I play that mini game sorcerors garden. Hunting lvl is 1 becuase a few of my friends told me to get access to the Fairy Ring system before I try it out. Right now I am just working on the stats of Dt. Any help would be appreciated. --Attack Ancient Fofo Slayer 18:57, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

I got them all there yesterday since I needed to finished Fremennik Isles (20 Construction) and Temple of Ikov (42 Theiving). The theiving helped with the farming. --Attack Ancient Fofo Slayer 20:03, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

My respawn points also in falador but I like the mini game. So if mage is my friend should i get it to 65-66 or maybe even 70? Lockpicks 50+ ok but I might get theiving to lvl 55. --Attack Ancient Fofo Slayer 22:17, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

I see so this is not walk in the park. I have almost got 53 theiving at 51. I have got 26 farming now. So I am going to use a guide hopefully this will be easy for me to do. Oh and what is your mage level? --Attack Ancient Fofo Slayer 21:51, 3 January 2008 (UTC) forgot to sign

Mage was all I wanted to know thx. I have successfully obtained the blood diamond. I am planning on going after the ice diamond but I am not to sure on how I should approach it, Any tips would be helpful --Attack Ancient Fofo Slayer 18:09, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Desert Treasure[edit source]

I already had a little dance with trolls. I was about to kill the last one when I foolishly went to pick up an addy axe. When I did that The troll I was killing went away and another troll showed up and almost killed me. They hit max 17 I think. I was also using monk robes but my ring of life saved me as the icey wind hit 1 on me. So I hope when I go back I only have 1 troll to kill and then I ll restock. --Attack Ancient Fofo Slayer 22:42, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

I am happy to say I have obtained 3 of the 4 diamonds needed. I have the Ice Diamond of Kamil. The Smoke Diamond of Fareed. The Blood Diamond of Dessous or Malak. I meleed Dessous and Fareed Fairly easily. I beat Kamil. He was easier then killing the ice trolls with fire bolt. Although finding the path was a bit hard I managed to get the Ice Diamond. Now I would really Like Help with Danis becuase everyone who I talked to say he is the hardest and I have no clue why please tell me and again any pointers would be a Great Help.

I done it. The Maze was a walk in the park a few energy pots anti poisons and some prayer potions. Thank you for all your help. Now I can do magicks. =Þ --Attack Ancient Fofo Slayer 16:36, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Re: Goal/Training Templates question[edit source]

I've had a go, but can't work out what to set in the goal template to make it work. The problem is that the "wikitable" style from the enclosing table is being inherited by the tables used by the goal template. This is the cause of the outer border, and is also the cause of the "blue" not fully disappearing when achieved (due to a 1 pixel padding on the zero width table column).

The Template:POH room template used to have the same problem, but somehow the fixes I applied there worked. The only other solution I can think of, would be for you to not use the "wikitable" class for the outer table, but just declare the background colour on the header row yourself.

Re: Training template[edit source]

I've extended the Training template to now take an optional cost for each of the items. If present, it will give the total cost of each item needed. This should make comparing costs easier between different options.

You can see an example on my User:Amaurice/My Plans page. I'm actually using the GE price (where available), via the Template:GEPrice. Note that when using the GEPrice template, you need to specify a second argument of "no" to stop it formatting the number (only makes difference for prices over 999 gp).

Amaurice talk 14:34, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

The following templates are used:
The Training template itself is only complex because it's trying to construct the sentence with the right number of commas, etc. For example, first item is always output. If the second item is present, then this is output, but before it, there will either be a comma, or an "or" string, depending on whether item 3 is present.
If you want to create specialised templates that only takes 1 item, then they will be much simpler, and could probably just call the Template:Items Needed template directly for the main XP calculation work.
For documentation on the wiki parser functions themselves, I find the Wikimedia Parser Functions Help very useful.
I hope that helps.

Summoning Training template[edit source]

I would suggest calling the template "TrainingSummoning" (or something like that) rather than just "Summoning" as the latter is too generic in name and might get used as a template on all summoning monster pages to cross-link to others.

The main challenge I have with planning summoning is being able to predict what charms I will get, and how best to use them. For example,

  • Now I can use green and crimson charms, do I bother with the gold ones?
  • Is it better to make pouches with just green and save the crimson for later, or visa versa?
  • Should I save the blue (rarer) charms for later, when I might need them for something specific, or use them as soon as I can?
  • Do I bother changing pouches to scrolls to use, or high alch/sell the pouches to recover some gold?
  • Which pouches do I create, because they are useful in battle to get more charms, rather than creating the best for experience?
  • How easy are some of the extra components going to be to get?

At the moment, planning summoning seems a bit like trying to plan slayer (which is more a case of planning scrategies for each monster type than giving counts of number of "dragons", etc, to kill to get to a certain level).

I wasn't sure what you meant about having multiple level ranges in a single template. That sounded rather complex. What would be possible would be to get the template to show what level it is going from as well as what it's going to. So, you could then just make multiple calls to the template to get a sentence for each level range.

Amaurice talk 14:18, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Template expansion limit[edit source]

FYI, I was looking at your Getting Level 99 Skills page, and thought (out of curiousity) I'd check the pre-expand include size (which you can see by doing a "view source" in the browser, and searching for pre-expand include size).

The wiki is configured to limit this to about 2Mb, and your page is about 1.93Mb. If you add too much more to the page, you will find the bottom of the page will not have template substitution done (because it's exceeded the limit). For example, if you call the GEPrice template (as I do on my page), you might quickly hit this limit as the GEPrice currently uses about 25k for each call.

I thought I'd just warn you, because it can be confusing when it stops working. Amaurice talk 13:08, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

About Buck[edit source]

I can't do that. According to Splarka, we need to alert a staffer if anymore Bucks appear. I'm not going to go so far as doing that unless it really becomes an issue, but this user can just change usernames if they must, it's not such a huge deal. It's fairly obvious it's the same person, you yourself gave the best evidence. So, Buck will remain blocked. ChristineTalk 19:36, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Re: Charms[edit source]

Most slayer monsters drop good charms; Dust devils, bloodvelds, and spectres.

Best monster for Gold Charms: Giant Rock Crabs, drop 10

Best monster for Crimson Charms: Dust Devils or Waterfiends, Waterfiends are much harder but they have a almost 100% drop rate.

Best monster for Green Charms: Bloodvelds

Best monster for Blue Charms: Unsure; Kally warriors or spectres maybe.

Reply to something old[edit source]

You don't have an account, you haven't made any edits to the wiki, and you think you're qualified to say who deserves to be an admin and who doesn't? You said "the above shows why Stinkowing shouldn't be a sysop", did you read "the above"? First off, the only thing I asked Stinkowing to do in my post was to changed the locked threads. I agree with his opinions on the matter, he does as great job as a sysop on the wiki and forums, he just made a mistake this one time. You'll have noticed that he apologized. If you had read Bob2006ty's post you would have realized that Bob agreed with Stinko's decision to lock many of those threads also. So rather than trying to be critical of great users, get over yourself and quit adding useless posts. Stinkowing is doing just fine as a Sysop, he just made a mistake on a bad day, which everyone has done, and he apologized and fixed it. Next time you feel like adding worthless comments, don't forget that most people aren't going to agree with you, and you'll be blocked for being abusive to other users. Wrong retard. I had several accounts and contributed majorly to the Wiki until half the wikia users poked their noses into my personal life and never left me alone. I've left the wiki alone (until my addition of the word Nigger all over the Catapult Construction page) but I recently found this and thought I should reply. 13:52, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

The Hunt for Surok[edit source]

I case you haven't looked at it, you might want to do The Hunt for Surok. The first time is a bit long winded (going through most of the Chaos Tunnels), but the daily repeats are quite quick (just need to take shortest route to the final portal).

The slayer experience is not great (after the first time), but the charm drops I think are worth it. The drops are 5 blue charms, 7 crimson charms and 2 green charms.

Blue and crimson charms are really best, given the summoning experience is approximately:

  • gold charms = 1.3 x pouch level
  • green charms = 1.75 x pouch level
  • crimson charms = 4.4 x pouch level
  • blue charms = 8.8 x pouch level

The reward of 12 good charms (blue and crimson) makes it worth it (IMHO). I personally will not be doing much summoning (other than collecting the charms) until June, then I return to primarily doing slayer and summoning. Amaurice talk 13:20, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

While Guthix Sleeps[edit source]

Did you manage to finish the While Guthix Sleeps quest? I finished in on Sunday and found that the Balance Elemental was not as bad as I thought it would be.

I switched between melee and ranged for my attacks (lunar is not good for offensive). I used black dragonhide, barrows gloves, helm of neitnot, etc. Mainly using armour for ranged and magic defence. I then used protect from melee prayer.

Super restores are a good idea because it does drain stats. The super restores will restore prayer too, so don't need prayer pots.

I would also suggest taking a combat summoning creature with you too. The summoned creature may do some damage, but it will also draw some of the Balance Elementals attacks (so you don't take so much damage).

In the end, I didn't need to eat any of the food I took.

Fighting the tormented demons afterwards was awesome. I had my ags on me, and with the boosted 255 stats, I was getting hits of 160+ (without the special). Amaurice talk 13:38, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Re: My new website[edit source]

I think the reason you don't often see me in game is bacause I usually play 10pm to 1am, which I think is often when you have logged off. The last couple of weekends I've been travelling due to business trips so have not been on much then.

I've looked at the, and the structure looks good to start with. I'm not sure I will be much help writing articles as I'm not very good at that sort of thing, but I can check out high-level details for you if you need.

As for skills, I'm doing mini games too (to break up tedium) so will take a bit longer to get all, but will probably have by the summer and then have the big party. Amaurice talk 22:47, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

Looks like your web site is being hosted by, and it looks like they support PHP, Perl and Python. I've used to use Perl a quite lot, then used PHP when that came out, and have dabbled with Python. I would suggest PHP for server scripting (and javascript for client side). If you get stuck with programming, feel free to email me at: maurice @ Amaurice talk 20:57, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
