Demon Flash Mobs spawns[edit source]

Hey, we really only do a page of spawns for temporary events that will be there for the entire time across all worlds, EG Easter egg hunt. Demon Flash Mobs are here to stay, and aren't guaranteed to stay for the full hour. As for where, Demon_Flash_Mob#Locations lists all the locations, and I suspect it's a different location for each world. What I've done Ciphrius Kane Talk 01:14, February 4, 2013 (UTC)

I'm aware of that. When hunting Demon Flash Mobs, listing exact spawn times somewhere is crucial. I thought Wikia would be a good palce to get a community-editable list going. At the moment, people are using RS FC's with random calls. We really need some web site to do that. If Wikia doesn't allow such a list, I guess we'll have to use Google Docs or something. It is impractical to have a page that would have to be updated over 100 times every hour that would be outdated within a short time on a permanent basis. Better to organise this sort of thing at a local level IE ingame fcs rather than have a page that is for most of the time outdated What I've done Ciphrius Kane Talk 01:33, February 4, 2013 (UTC)

Scan clues page[edit source]

Hey thanks for all the locations you've been adding to the page, it's really great to have someone helping out with this. It would be really helpful if you could also put the locations onto the maps on the page. You can do this by searching for the maps (they're all called Map:(Place name) scan) and editing them there. Scans maps[edit source]

Hey, thanks for continuing to add locations to this page and for learning to add them as symbols on the maps. I'm just leaving this message to explain properly what the blue "approx" symbols is for. Some locations have this if their in-game image was retaken and we weren't sure that the new image showed the exact right spot (some of the areas changed considerably since the images were last taken). More often now, the approx symbol is used when we don't have an in-game image for a location.

If we don't have an in-game image, then we've been using the approx symbol on the map and adding a text description of the location to the "Other possible locations" section for the area which is beneath the in-game images of locations. We them make the symbol for these locations link to "Other possible locations (<area name>) which just takes the viewer to all the text descriptions. Also, the title for these images should be the same as the text description on the scans article.

Please try and stick to doing this when you're adding locations without in-game images. Alternatively I don't mind explaining how to take the in game images, just leave me a talk page message if that's something you'd be interested in.

OK, I'll start using the "other possible locations" space. I just felt it's a bit silly to list the locations there just because momentarily they don't have a picture. I know well enough how to take, edit and add pictures but to be honest, I just can't be bothered. Just adding the info about missing clues is slowing my clues down considerably; if I had to start taking pictures too, I probably wouldn't be adding the clues on Wikia at all. POP Clue voyage region[edit source]

The region for those POP clue voyages is determined mostly by difficulty and voyage length. Though, if you want, you could also determine it by crew XP earnt. IP83.101.44.209 (talk) 08:06, May 11, 2015 (UTC)

This is interesting, the other The Scythe special effect voyages list "2" as the quantity instead of 1. A Terracotta Merchant should only influence the amount once there are at least 3 (3*133% = ~4), while a Jade Merchant would need at least 4 before an additional one is given. Yes, I found it interesting too. I sent this voyage without a merchant for no particular reason. It could be set to reward like 1.8 kegs by default or something to make it work like this. I'll continue to experiment with and without merchants. Also before when I've received 2 as a reward, the voyage details still listed only 1. Thingummywut (talk) 13:30, June 16, 2015 (UTC)
The amounts listed on the voyages page should be the amount specified in the Voyage detail screen; not the actual amount received (as stuff may influence that). Tho if the voyage details and the result without any bonuses doesn't match up, I'd make a bug report about it. IP83.101.44.209 (talk) 13:50, June 16, 2015 (UTC)

Daniel[edit source]

Re: Hidden update[edit source]


Yes it does indeed include the interface of won rewards. It is also the text used when the item is hovered over in the TH promo interface. In this specific case the text changed used to be: "2h and 1h versions of the sword unlocked as a comsetic override." And was changed to: "2h and 1h versions of the sword unlocked as a cosmetic override."

Note the typo fix in the word "Cosmetic", which was not mentioned in the patch notes.

Re:Loot Piñata[edit source]

Yup, I'm sure you can get luchador masks as a direct reward as well, as I received El Defensor directly from looting a piñata (another player's, if that is relevant). It is a bit weird that they reward both the token and luchador masks, but I can confirm that it is possible. Unfortunately I cannot prove it with a screenshot or anything, as I got the reward yesterday and I didn't think making a screenshot would be necessary. Clue locations moving[edit source]

We noticed a few years ago when tracking the Penguin Hide and Seek/Spawn locations that a lot of the coordinates had shifted a few degrees around one day. We determined that Jagex changed a little of the math used for determining which coordinate a map grid was actually on. I'm not sure if that change is what's also affecting the Treasure Trail coordinate pictures, or if it's just simply human error, but we still check that our coordinates are up-to-date for penguins because of that past event. Module:Disassemble/data[edit source]

Please don't add aliases for single items. You've inflated the template pointlessly and for what? "Saradomin sword" is not a valid alias. Just use the basic category names in templates on those pages. MolMan 17:41, March 17, 2016 (UTC)

Ranges[edit source]

If a drop comes in quantities of "85-100", and you receive a drop of 82, please just extend the lower limit of the range. MolMan 14:07, April 8, 2016 (UTC)

For here, it's very obvious that it's a range. Use separate ranges when it makes sense for there to be 2 separate ranges. An example of this is the coin drops on Ice strykewyrm. For values less than 1000, the only two values you'll ever see are 200 and 660. For higher values, we've seen random numbers between 4400 and 8000, but we haven't necessarily seen them all. It would take too much time and effort. thinking about it logically, it makes sense to list that as a range.
Another personal favorite of mine is the coins drop from Caskets. The exact formula for the quantities is in the trivia.
As for "16-100", I assume that's about dwarf weeds? I actually just removed that, because as far as I can tell, he never drops that many. I think that was likely a bad assumption based on the lantadyme drops. However, if I'm wrong (and I may be, I only have just over 100 kills), I think dwarf weeds would be a logical place to include a separate range. If you've actually seen a dwarf weed drop that high, then it's likely they're separate drops that may even warrant separate drops lines.
As a general rule of thumb, if you have several values close together, like say, 14;16;17;19;20, it's logical to assume that the values 15 and 18 are in there as well, and you should list it as a range. MolMan 14:24, April 8, 2016 (UTC)

Contract formula[edit source]

The formula for contracts seems to be as you said, except I think the minimum number for skill tasks is 30; experience is from a lookup table I figure, but I'm not sure where the cutoffs for the slayer points happen yet. Once we find out where the points increase we could probably create a calc for the slayer tasks. The others are pretty much the same too. Probably something like:

    Task ← randomSkillTask;
    Amount ← rand() % 70+30;  //Random value (30–100)
    Chimes ← Amount(Floor of 50)
    Experience ← search(randomSkillTaskXP) × Amount
  Print [(Skill) (Amount) (Task) | Reward: (Chimes) chimes & (Experience) (Skill) XP]

Slayer points are probably something like:

For Slayer
  SlayerPoints ← 30—50=2, 51—?=3, ?—?=4, etc...

Collection and Crafting tasks are special cases also. Collection tasks seem to always reward 250 chimes regardless of the task. Crafting tasks I'm not sure the minimum or maximum values for, but chime rewards seem to be 2 × Amount for them, with a Floor value of 50 chimes as well. Not sure if you're aware, but this was what was discovered about BBQ: Talk:Summer_Beach_Party#XP

Levels 1 to 63, floor(4.25 * level + 40)
Levels 64-99, floor(7.63 * level - 171.763)
This isn't 100% perfect but fits within 1 xp based on testing
Also floor to the nearest 0.1 XP

I've yet to do the event, but I've seen on twitter that JD's turkey is also called "Turkey JD". So I'd have to check, but I'm pretty sure all turkeys this year are called "Turkey <Jmod name>". Re: Mining timings[edit source]

Ehhh I'll clarify it here in very strenuous detail here I guess. First let me describe how iron **used** to work. Note: This analysis is for rune pickaxes only.

If you were already at the iron rock and mined it, if you watch the animation, the pickaxe strikes only once before you get it. If you time this animation, starting with tick 1, you'd find that you get the ore on tick 2. You could either say this takes 1 tick (since 2-1=1) or 2 ticks (the initial preparation to mine the rock [i.e. looking at it] takes 1 tick too, and if you were surrounded with iron ore and mined as fast as you could, you'd find that you'd be able to mine an iron ore every 2 ticks, that is, the entire action from start to finish uses up 2 ticks of player time). Let's use the second reasoning and say that this takes 2 ticks.

Now (still in the old system) if you ran up to the iron rock, then the pickaxe animation would strike twice before getting the ore. If you time this animation, starting with tick 1, you'd get the ore on tick 3. So this takes 3 ticks.

Now for any other typical ore, say copper.

If you were already at the copper rock, the pickaxe would strike twice before you got the ore. That means it takes 3 ticks.

If you ran up to the copper rock, the pickaxe strikes 3 times before you got the ore. That's 4 ticks.

Now every other rock is like copper except that you have a chance of not getting the ore on the 4th tick. If so, then the next chance is on the 7th tick, then 10th tick, 13th tick, and so on. (This is for rune pickaxes only. For adamant, the ticks on which you can get the ore are spaced out by 4 instead of 3. Also if you used an adamant pickaxe, the initial tick on which you could get the ore is also increased by 1 for all rocks.)

Now what the new system did is to make the "already there" and "ran up to the rock" mining times equal. For most rocks, that works by reducing the "ran up to the rock" mining time by 1. But for iron, what they did is to increase the "already there" mining time by 1.

Even if it is a F2P item, it can only be received by members since they only show up when Invention is unlocked, otherwise they show Div/Craft/Smith prizes, right? Even if the TH interface claims it, it's literally impossible for F2P players to obtain. Hey, I saw you apparently obtained 20k BXP on Invention at level 66 using the med-tier star. Did they drastically nerfed it? I'm getting like 13k, and on the current meteor event, despite invention being boosted, based on the credits for vic, a small space dust nets me 11 credits at 97, which is about 1.5k bxp/credit, even taking account the promo's 100% bxp boost for the lowest skills. Memory Strand - apology[edit source]

Hey, just wanted to drop an apology about removing the estimate strand values in Memory strand page. The way you phrased that sentence confused me and since I had accurate data from 20 man-hours I was fairly confident to remove it altogether.

I wasn't looking for pattern and therefore I didn't even bother to compare the 20% change per minute to my data, and that was a huge mistake. Now when you reworded your sentence and added it back, it makes a lot more sense when compared to my data too.

So, I'm sorry, I'm gonna remember what just happened and be more careful in the future heh.

Idk if you have noticed but there also seems to be really small change to receive strands before a minute has passed, I've seen a handful of drops anywhere between 4s - 55s. (I'm not so sure did that last sentence make any sense, so here's an example just in case: first strand drop at 9:11:54, second drop at 9:11:59) Seems to happen way more often on normal springs rather than with ancestral springs. I just noticed that there's a [[Transcript:Guthixian Memories]] which is also completely included in Transcript:Tribute to Guthix. I'd suggest to remove the memories from the Tribute's transcript, or remove the memories transcript. Whatever you think is best. Pickaxe Wanging rates[edit source]

Small fallen star elite XP[edit source]

Regarding Template:Small fallen star elite XP: does the amount of bonus experience really peak in the mid 50s and then go back down? I saw your note about how the values are approximate, but I wasn't sure how much was actual data vs extrapolation. Power Generator XP[edit source]

On Skilling Backback, RE: Hide(s)[edit source]

I noticed on the edit history of skilling backpack you mentioned that "hide" is not a countable noun. I believe that it actually is, and I wanted to explain why I put the "s" back on hides again. (1) Per Wiktionary, ( and also Google's dictionary, it is countable, plural hides, and (2) we also refer to hides plural on the page itself, protean hide. Not trying to prove you wrong or anything, just wanted to explain the edit. Scan clue ordering[edit source]

Ordering them in that way would make no sense to people using the guide. You can easily ctrl + f any place based on the description, which should be the same on the map and on the page. It's not that difficult to place a new entry, just put it near the other clues in that area (or dump it at the end and I'll end up re-locating it). Scan clue images[edit source]

What do you mean by [[1]]? As far as I can tell the clue does tell you you're at the correct location when you're one pace off to the north, however I am taking the images on the exact place shown by the arrow so I believed that it was correct. Other scan clue locs[edit source]

Hey, I removed the other possible locations for desert clues because the area has been updated a couple of times, I wasn't sure if they all still existed and wanted to start the list again. I couldn't tell how long any of them had been there because of the lack of images. You are welcome to put in any that you know exist since the area updates, it would be really helpful if you could do images in future as well. Separating (or the lack of) dialogue in transcripts[edit source]

As per the transcript style guide, dialogue in separate chat boxes, but spoken by the same person, may be combined, unless that dialogue is interrupted by another person's dialogue or an event. Salvage[edit source]

Wanted to thank you for your edit. The salvage was actually done by me and Banshees were based on early rework information. Jagex definitely changed some things around to try and fix drop tables so you'll see a few monsters like that.

Challenge System exp rewards[edit source]

What to do with exp rewards where the chat says one thing while the pop up shows one exp more? Pretty much every page contains those and in the past we have just put it at ".5". I don't know if a range is the best idea, since that might clutter the pages. Even normal bones which give 4.5 exp have 4 exp pop ups every other time and goblins giving 33.1 exp have 34 exp pop ups every tenth. Having the same level and doing a task 10 times without gaining partial exp inbetween is quite hard. Smithing is easily doable though, I could do it after I get 120 dung in a few days if needed. Or extended challenges could be used to narrow it down. Also, shouldn't .6-.9 be .5-.9? ArcticFire (talk) 00:22, 10 February 2019 (UTC)

I see your point, but I don't think exact values are useful in this case. Mostly because the difference between .0 and .9 in a high exp, low volume thing like challenges is abysmal and getting the range for anything other than lvl 99 probably won't happen. No skill is close to even have all levels listed.
But I don't know how to solve the problem either, so I guess continuing your way is the best. But maybe adding a note column with the range?

On another note, I think this from the main Challenge System page should be added to all reward pages:
If a member's first login of the day is into a free-to-play world, if they receive a challenge in a members' skill, it would be appropriate to the capped level (5) instead.
The reward experience is calculated when receiving the challenge, not when handing it in. If the player levels up before handing in the challenge, it will give the same experience it would have at the previous level.
Also, I think it would be good to split up the F2P skills to two tables so it is easier to check the exp. And also just have one entry per level since the exp is based on level, many skills now have several per level. The problem is of course the ones with different exp values since some people put the level they were when they handed it in instead of when they received it, but they could have X1 or X2. With only one entry per level, F2P skills could just have another column like Dungeoneering. ArcticFire (talk) 13:56, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
