Those images[edit source]

Could you please reupload them with a different icon for the locations? Perhaps one that makes more sense, like a spade. Can you also read RS:IMG to know how to properly name images? MolMan 01:03, August 1, 2012 (UTC)

So, you're posting a bunch of images with cash piles, etc. Could you please explain what these are??

Megareader (talk) 01:08, August 1, 2012 (UTC)

Those are the locations to dig; and the fact that most people don't know what that means, you should really reupload it with a better icon; i.e. a spade. MolMan 01:09, August 1, 2012 (UTC)
And then, what's up with the difference of the the blue vs the red cash? Yes, a spade would be better, and when you post them to whatever page the apply to, please post a key, so others can understand :) Megareader (talk) 01:13, August 1, 2012 (UTC)
There is a legend... Recive (talk) 01:22, August 1, 2012 (UTC)
Hello Recive, we REALLY love your idea of those maps, thought, imagemaps (examples: Gielinor_Games_Reward_Shop) would be better in this case due to not having those images all over the place. It is really a good idea thought. — Jr Mime (talk) 01:25, August 1, 2012 (UTC)
They're just a bit confusing, also, the fact that some locations are speculated (the blue locations), may not be good. You should've left those out, and if they were confirmed by others then they could've been added at a later date. Megareader (talk) 01:28, August 1, 2012 (UTC)

They were confirmed by others, but without an image to show the exact location; my solution was the color coded "guessed location" until someone with an image uploads to confirm.Recive (talk) 01:36, August 1, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for doing the images, I think it's a really good idea. However, could you perhaps use a more appropriate image for where to dig, such as a spade or the scan clue scroll? Stacks of cash don't really represent that in the same way. Also, mind using a different image for the example, such as [[:File:Scan_clue-Dorgesh-Kaan-Inside_bank.png]]? That way we don't have unnecessary extra images, and that they are high quality, as the one you chose isn't as highly detailed What I've done Ciphrius Kane Talk 01:38, August 1, 2012 (UTC)

You need to understand that while your reform is better, it is much more appropriate to have an image map rather than a map's image, especially for the reason of improving those approximate locations. It is also no reason to remove the other images that detail the location. MolMan 01:39, August 1, 2012 (UTC)

I do not know how to use that function or I would of done that instead. Could someone link me a tutorial for that? And I chose a coin stack because of the high contrast to any location color. A spade would blend in to many of the dull brown and grey dungeon/cave environments.Recive (talk) 01:47, August 1, 2012 (UTC)

Then use a clue scroll. MolMan 01:48, August 1, 2012 (UTC)
Hi again, here is a short tutorial on how to Imagemap: User:Urbancowgurl777/Projects/Maps Images can be A) Spade.png B) Clue scroll.pngJr Mime (talk) 01:54, August 1, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks. How about C) Clue scroll (elite).png--Recive (talk) 02:04, August 1, 2012 (UTC)

If it is a elite clue scroll, you can. :). — Jr Mime (talk) 02:05, August 1, 2012 (UTC)

Edit conflict ffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu, I'll post it anyways:

Some clarification If I ever, at some point, came across as a dick, sorry; it was not intended. But basically, your maps are - no offense - a bit messy and as I mentioned before, an image map would be much more practical in this situation. You seem willing to learn how to understand image maps and that's good to hear. I expect some cool stuff from you later. Also, I've created your userpage as it caused redlinks. MolMan 02:06, August 1, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah I was pretty mad at the reverts. I did spend all afternoon making those maps. The idea was not to remove content, but improve presentation and understandability, and decrease the resource intensity of the existing content. All(98%, a few were too vague) of the existing images and text were painstakingly plotted on the maps which I took the images for myself. Since the original page was such a resource-intensive mess I thought that the edit would be embraced. Thanks for understanding that I want to make this a quality edit. --Recive (talk) 02:34, August 1, 2012 (UTC)
And it's much appreciated, but for now all the other images should stay as they do provide more clarity. Go ahead and put your maps in, but leave the images of each separate location in. Now I don't want to go screwing around with the page, one way I can see you reducing the size is shoving them all into a gallery. MolMan 02:42, August 1, 2012 (UTC)

Wow! You have made a lot of progress on the maps! They look cool! :) — Jr Mime (talk) 18:22, August 1, 2012 (UTC)

Example image with improved icons, image map links, and separate approximate location layer:

(image removed) --Recive (talk) 19:18, August 1, 2012 (UTC)

Could the key be moved somewhere else? Perhaps the side? Otherwise, it's coming along nicely. MolMan 19:25, August 1, 2012 (UTC)
Addition to that, the thing I was thinking is to add the coordinations when you go over them, then have a table under the map with information about it. — Jr Mime (talk) 19:32, August 1, 2012 (UTC)
Well, I was planning on putting the legend on the side ... but Ardougne is over 990px in width to begin with ... and the (suggested?) maximum image width is 990px. Other problematic locations would be the Chaos tunnels, Khazari jungle, Mos Le'Harmless, Tirranwn, and especially the deep Wilderness. Suggestions for the width problem? I would really prefer just putting the legend once at the top of the page so everyone skips over it. There really is no need to add the coordinates for these scans, as the location is shown to the player when they get close to it, however I can see that it might benefit the Treasure_Trails/guide/Coordinates page. --Recive (talk) 19:45, August 1, 2012 (UTC)
If you end up having the key on each map, the bottom seems more appropriate. MolMan 19:48, August 1, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks very much for what you're working on, when it's finished it'll be extremely helpful while doing clues :) Blasty Talk 06:32, August 2, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the help. It shows exactly how to do what I wanted. Truth ForgerTalk 07:04, August 2, 2012 (UTC)

Treasure Trails/Guide/Scans/Location Gallery[edit source]

Useless in that form. It's just a mass of images that is no use to man nor beast.

Please split the gallery into sections matching the maps. And put a link to each section with each map. Small recharge gem.png AnselaJonla Slayer-icon.png 08:45, August 2, 2012 (UTC)

Scans page[edit source]

I talked with a few other editors in <nowiki>[[Special:Chat|chat]]</nowiki> and it was decided that such a large-scale change to a section of one of our most popular guides needs to have community consensus to achieve a version that everyone can be happy with. The discussion thread can be found here. Small recharge gem.png AnselaJonla Slayer-icon.png 09:49, August 2, 2012 (UTC)

I don't know who told you it was okay to edit the wording of a thread started by someone else, but I think you are extremely rude and out of line, and that if you want to make additional proposals you can just make them in the comments like everyone else. Your name being brought up in the thread does not give you co-author rights; I would have told you on here if that was the case. Small recharge gem.png AnselaJonla Slayer-icon.png 07:16, August 3, 2012 (UTC)
I'm new to large edits within this community, and my experience with it has been consistently bad. You created the thread without asking if I had an alternate proposal, which I did. Considering this was about my proposed overhaul, I thought it would be right and proper if my opinion was included in it. I want to improve this content. However if I had known that it would be such a pain to contribute I would of not spent 10+ hours making the maps and additional time trying to memorize the Holy Writ of Unspoken RS Wiki Rules and the time editing the page layout and the time figuring out how to position the location layer to overlay the map image for the ease of future editing and the time learning how to made a decent map and the time learning image mapping and the time spent writing run-on sentences to give English teachers migraines. I feel like I've gone out of my way to create outstanding content for updating this poorly made article, and every time I try to share my vision of the page-to-be I get slapped in the face. Re:TT SCans[edit source]

I like both ideas, but still you've also got to think about the general RS community. They've been used to the traditional format since the page was created. I would strongly recommend you merge both traditional format and your suggested format. That's what I like. You have mapmaking potential Recive, but the flaw is that you don't say before you act, especially on a potentially controversial subject like this one. Perhaps next time you'll learn what's right to do :) it's not everyday I see a user trying to improve something. --Recent uploads SpineTalkGuest book 03:12, August 3, 2012 (UTC)

You should see what users have said on the talk page, the inaccessibility of the current page has been brought up multiple times. Truth ForgerTalk 03:16, August 3, 2012 (UTC)

TT Scan Clues - Suggestion[edit source]

Hello again Recive.

As we have voted in the YG, no one did something to the clue scans so I have gotten an idea.

But, can you merge the 2 pages with scan/location (Like [[:File:Chaos Tunnels scan.png]] [[:File:Chaos Tunnels scan locations.png]]) in together and make them no color/no wizard as showed below?

Then, when that is done, I will imagemap them and it will be like this example: Clue_scan#Ardougne.

Ardougne scan.png

Hope you like it!

Jr Mime (talk) 21:46, August 25, 2012 (UTC)

I could ... Though I've lost most of my interest in this project for reasons I'm sure you are aware of. I have a few questions though. Wizards are confirmed random so I can change those icons. 1) Why de-colorize them? It makes them harder to see. 2) Why merge the layers? It's meant to be easily edited by anyone with graphical savvy. 3) Why are the exact location tables not default hidden? Truth ForgerTalk 21:56, August 25, 2012 (UTC)
1) We don't need the color of confirmed/unconfirmed. We also don't need the wizard images as Ansela stated that it is totaly random. 2) I don't think Jagex will add new locations for the scans. 3) What do you mean by "Default hidden"? — Jr Mime (talk) 21:58, August 25, 2012 (UTC)
3) I think we should do this, less huge page. — Jr Mime (talk) 22:01, August 25, 2012 (UTC)
3) After I tested it here, the links will not work if you have the table closed. — Jr Mime (talk) 22:07, August 25, 2012 (UTC)
I still think that a background color will help the icons stand out on the maps. So ... I can just merge the confirmed location layer to the map layer ... will that be what you want? Truth ForgerTalk 23:41, August 25, 2012 (UTC)
Remove all the colour, also, if a location is on the page, means that someone had a clue sent them there. That would help us a lot :) — Jr Mime (talk) 23:47, August 25, 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion[edit source]

Hey, in order to nominate something for speedy deletion, you should use {{D|reason}} (put the reason why it's suitable to be deleted in place of reason obviously) rather than adding in categories manually. The category you used is the one we use for lengthy discussions about pages that could be deleted, and is not suitable for pages that can or need to be deleted quickly and without discussion What I've done Ciphrius Kane Talk 01:16, March 26, 2013 (UTC)
