RE:How do you...[edit source]

Lol, I just asked that question two days ago. Ask Cflm. He is the one who taught it to me. :) Santa hat.png Powers38 おはようヾ(´・ω・`) 13:59, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Re:Why?[edit source]

Because 1.) there's no reason to have a separate picture with every axe for use just in the Hatchets article since we already have a picture of every axe and 2.) having every axe together like that prevents us from inserting new axe pictures in their proper order (for example what if a new axe is released between rune and dragon?) and prevents us from updating images one by one if they get updated. kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar.png 17:14, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

RE:Why?[edit source]

Hmm, thanks for pointing that out. I'm not sure why it isn't working too. I'll ask someone who is more experienced in this area and get back to you as soon as possible. C.ChiamTalk 15:10, September 9, 2009 (UTC)

The issue has been fixed Smile. C.ChiamTalk 02:34, September 11, 2009 (UTC)

RE: Finnish RuneScape Wiki[edit source]

Calling me a noob, or someone who doesn't understand English... it saddens me that you actually had to resort to that.

Sometimes people get busy and don't have the time to reply messages, especially one that required a long reply like this one. I would have replied to you on 7 October 2009, but your rude message: "Anybody there? Can't u understand English?!" simply put me off... I am not around in this wiki every single day, and I don't monitor my talk page as often as some other administrators do. I could have just ignored you after the third message, but I wanted to reply anyway...

You can ask around, and someone will eventually tell you that I am definitely the operator of AzBot.

Penko, firstly you didn't introduce yourself, and I barely knew you. I don't understand Finnish, so going to your userpage was no help. I used to Google Translate to figure out that you are an admin and a bureaucrat there. I looked through the pages in the Finnish RuneScape wiki, and the number of Exchange pages was quite low. Maybe you should create all the Exchange pages first, before deciding to add the GEMH images. As of today, there are 3,145 Exchange pages here in this wiki.

I use Microsoft Excel to extract and store the data from the Exchange pages, and also to plot the charts; GIMP to optimise the chart files; and finally Visual Basic .NET to upload the charts, and to maintain the database in the wiki. Sometimes, when items are removed from the Grand Exchange database, AzBot deletes the relevant Exchange pages and GEMH files. To do this, AzBot has been granted administrative privileges, or sysop tools.

To answer your first post, AzBot doesn't "update Grand Exchange Market Watch prices" but only extracts the information from the existing page to plot the chart. Another bot, User:SmackBot, does the updating of the prices. Most of what AzBot does is semi-automatic, which means that I have to spend time telling AzBot what to do, and what not to do. The process is automatic, but the instructions are not. Thus, this means that only I would be able to run AzBot, as only I know what instructions to give. The entire process is quite complicated, and painstakingly slow. It takes roughly 12-15 hours just to upload all of the 3,145 charts for all of the Exchange pages. Downloading the dumps, and updating the database also takes time, as I have to look for vandalised or erroneous data, and correct them.

For now, I would suggest that you talk to the owner of SmackBot, User:Rich Farmbrough, and see if he can help you with the updating of GEMW prices, and the initial creation of the Exchange pages in the Finnish RuneScape wiki.

Another suggestion would be look into the Export/Import feature in the wiki. Your wiki could simply export our Exchange pages and GEMH files and import them into the Finnish RuneScape wiki. By doing this, the Exchange pages and GEMH images in the Finnish RuneScape wiki will be a copy of ours. Note that you can only do this every week or so. See [[Wikia:Database download]], Help:Export, and Import for more information.

Hope that helps. Next time you need help, try not to infuriate the user by calling them a noob, or someone who doesn't understand English. And, try to consider that they might have been too busy to reply... Wink   az talk   15:18, October 8, 2009 (UTC)

Az is most definitely the owner of Azbot. Also, I recommend you to be a bit more respectful to a user like Az the next time you ask for help. --

User_treatment_policy[edit source]

Hey there, I think you need to have a read through RuneScape:User_treatment_policy before you go posting any more questions anywhere. Disrespecting anyone or insulting anyone on this wiki again will not be tolerated.--Degenret01 02:19, October 15, 2009 (UTC)

RE: Import/Export[edit source]

Maybe... Special:Export should work for all files. I'm not sure about Special:Import though, as I have not used this feature myself. I would recommend that you first try importing in 100-file batches, as you had suggested. If that doesn't work, then go to [email protected], as I've seen several bugs related to Special:Import. Maybe you could find answers there. If there is none, ask around at Bugzilla, or submit a bug report. Keep me posted since I'm quite curious about this Export/Import feature.   az talk   15:31, December 3, 2009 (UTC)

Hmm, I have no idea... It appears that images need to uploaded manually.
Since a user in Dutch RS Wiki (User talk:Ruderion) also wanted to use our Exchange pages/images, I looked for a better solution than the one I suggested to you earlier.
Instead of using exports/imports to copy, and having outdated versions of our Exchange pages, wouldn't it be easier if they are simply transcluded from RuneScape Wiki? I found out about a feature called "interwiki transclusion", and I've asked Wikia about this... I'll let you know if this is possible.
For an example, have a look at User:WikiaBot. The content (page and image) is directly transcluded from Central Wikia.   az talk   10:22, December 31, 2009 (UTC)

Re:Few questions[edit source]

"Goblin (2)" refers to the level 2 version of goblin, while Cook's Assistant well...some assert that it is the noob quest, because it's usually the first quest that new players complete. C.ChiamTalk 02:03, January 16, 2010 (UTC)

Signature Help[edit source]

Your signature is currently in violation of the signature policy, seeing as how you add the raw code to the page as opposed to a template which is much cleaner. Don't worry, as this is easily fixable. Just follow these instructions.

To use a custom signature, do the following.

Here, we will assume you already have your signature template on the page Template:Signatures/IP. You can get a signature here.

  1. First, go to your preferences (see the red box)
  2. Check the Custom signatures box (see blue box)
  3. Add your signature template to the box above with the following code
{{SUBST:Nosubst|Signatures/IP}}

Lol I don't see any difference... And may I ask, what the heck is signature policy? --AttackPenko TCE 09:10, May 9, 2010 (UTC)
Ok now I see the difference but why did I have to do this. Like someone really cares lol... --AttackPenko TCE 09:12, May 9, 2010 (UTC)
People do care. It adds a lot of random stuff to pages you sign that could be avoided if you convert it to a template. It's cleaner, allows you to edit all instances of your signature from one location, and is all around a better method of leaving your signature. Thanks for fixing it, though Smile.
