Hi, welcome to my talk page. I invite anyone to contribute to a discussion with me. Please only mail me about RuneScape and nothing other. If you wish to talk about something else then mail me on the appropriate Wiki since it will be removed.

Welcome[edit source]

Hello and welcome to the wiki! Have fun editing here, but first you should read the Style Guide to see how articles should be set up and our Help page for general help around the wiki. Editing help can be found here. If you need help with anything feel free to ask me on my Talk Page. There are many editors here who can help you with anything you need. Also, if you haven't already, why don't you create a User page to help everyone get to know you better? You can even create a Signature on the page Template:signatures/Mr. Garrison to help add color to your name when you sign posts. Check out this page for help with that. Always remember to sign your forum and talk page posts with 4 tildes ~~~~ until you've got a sig (if you'd like one), or just press the sign button: Signature button.png. Once again, welcome! House dungeon[edit source]

With the exception of a (formal) garden, you can only extend a house by attaching a new room to an extsiting one. The same principle applies to creating new levels. You can only add levels if there is a way to get to that new level. This means a room with a stair needs to be present. Things get messy when re-building a house with levels. The dungeon entrance and the throne room are special as they only go down. A stair option in the other rooms can either up or down (maybe both, dunno). At the lower level you also need a room with a level connecting feature (stairs). So you need a dungeon room with an upgoing stairs. Notice that the dungeon level can also have normal rooms, maybe even a garden. Maybe you can even make dungeon rooms above the ground. Planning your house is one of the best things you can do. Building a fancy room can cost over several hundred thousand coins in room cost and special building materials. Tearing such a room down, destroys all those building elements. Planning ahead avoids paying for a room twice (or more), just because you got the orientation wrong. --Miw 08:37, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

The key to a houseplan is to create a table where each cell holds a room. A floorplan of a 5 by 5 grid of rooms, thus requires a table with 5 columns and 5 rows. The standard wiki method to create a table is fairly simple. The text {| cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" sets up a table without any margins between the cells. Start a newline with a "|" character to create a new column. When the row is complete create an empty line with "|-". Repeat for the next row. The house template takes care of rendering the cell comtent. :A suggestion for my workshop issue is very welcome. Especially if it does not destroy too much of my building materials in the process. --Miw 09:32, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
The throne room has a dungeon entrance as well, so you dont need stairs in a dungeon room with a correcsponding dungeon entrance garden. This only works if have an obliette underneath the throne room (and dont mind the screams of agony and suffering from below).
Attempted to fix your houseplan. The general idea is to first position of your rooms on a grid without rotate and shape parameters. Once the locations of all rooms are satisfactory, add rotation parameters to create the proper interconnects between the rooms. Some rooms will stay unconnected, fix the wall between these by changing the shape parameter to a less connected variant. See Template:POH_room/doc#Creating_a_Floorplan for an example of the steps. Using preview makes this a fairly simple process, and you should get a decent floorplan in a few iterations. Have fun planning your house! --Miw 15:31, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Your house plan[edit source]

I noticed your house plan. Planning house layout is well worth doing because it can be expensive to move rooms later (particularly after you've built expensive furnature). A couple of points you might want to consider:

  • Will you want a servant? If so, you will need 2 bedrooms (a requirement for servants). You could loose your parlour and build a bedroom instead (with a bit of room shuffling).
  • Your formal garden with stairs down to the dungeon does not have a dungeon room underneath. You could move one of your dungeon rooms to be below it. For example:

Hope this helps. If you have any questions about house building, feel free to ask. Amaurice talk 16:29, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

The Template:House room has been replaced by the new Template:POH room makes it easier to specify which doors you want. Rather than having to give shape and rotation, you can now just give doors= followed by a list of the door positions (e.g. "nse" for north, south and east). I have updated your house plan to use the new template. Amaurice talk 15:38, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
Yes, it's much easier now. =D Amaurice talk 15:58, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Re: Dungeon Monsters[edit source]

Sorry about the delay in responding. I'm currently on vacation, so have limited internet access. In answer to your question, if I remember correctly, the monster levels are:

  • Skeleton Guard is level 22
  • Guard Dog is level 44
  • Hobgoblin Guard is level 58
  • Baby Red Dragon is level 65
  • Huge Spider is level 81
  • Troll Guard is level 91
  • Hell Hound is level 122

Treasure Room:

  • Lesser Demon is level 82
  • Kalphite Soldier is level 85
  • Tok-Xil is level 90
  • Dagannoth is level 135
  • Steel Dragon is level 246

Hope that helps. Amaurice talk 19:04, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

I think the spider image was improved with the other spiders. Because the spiders are brown and the dungeons are brown, the spider is more hidden than other monsters in the dungeon. Amaurice talk 19:20, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Just had a quick look in my house, and the spider does look like the image on the wiki page, so maybe it was not changed. Amaurice talk 19:45, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

I leveled construction by buying oak logs from players, which I took noted to my house. I then got my demon butler to then unnote 24 at the time, and then to plank 24 of them. I then made 4 curved oak tables on my workbench. Making larders or dungeon oak doors might be faster. Next time I level construction I might try the larder method. Re: Thanks![edit source]

I'm back from vacation now. You asked if the Kalphite in the Treasure Room is poisonous? I'm not sure, since I never tried one myself, but I think I saw someone on the forums once say that it was.

As for the images on my house plan, I've tried to use existing article images. In some cases, articles did not have images, so I added them, and then used the images on my house plan. Amaurice talk 21:35, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Re: A favour[edit source]

I remember seeing the discussion. The upshot is that this is not something that should just be 'done', it needs community consensus first. You should create the request in the Yew Grove. Administrator Hurston (T # C) 17:28, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

RE: Newspaper[edit source]

I have added your story to the newspaper. All you need to do now is add an image and a summary of your editorial here. If you have any problems, don't hesitate to ask me. Thanks for contributing to the RuneScape Wiki Post!  Tien  16:11, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Oh, sorry about not answering your question earlier. I believe that with the permission of the author, any story can be posted here as long as credit is given to the author and the source. Since you actually wanted your story to be on the newspaper, I suppose it's fine. Again, all you need to do now is add an image and a summary. Nice story by the way. :)  Tien  00:49, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

RE: Still going?[edit source]

Yep, the newspaper is still running. I have edited your editorial and added it to the newspaper here. Since there is only one day left until it is released, I have provided an image and summary for you (we don't want to release it and have one of the templates look incomplete), but feel free to change them if you want. Thanks for contributing!

PS. In the future, you can search "rswp" and it will bring you straight to the newspaper.  Tien  19:09, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
