RE:Charm template

You only had to remove the Summoning category inside the {{Ctg}} template, you didn't have to remove the charms category from that template, since they're still charms, and the {{Template only}} template is there so I can track it for inconsistencies in that navbox, if there are any. It only has the Summoning templates category so far, as I haven't made other categories that this template would fit in and this template contains Summoning-specific charms, so it has something Summoning-related which is why that template should keep that category. Also template only categories are literally for only templates and they're NOT transcluded on the pages where the navbox is used unlike the categories inside the Ctg template which are transcluded upon the pages that it uses.  Salix ^(Talk)  16:43, September 17, 2017 (UTC)

Hello!

I was wondering how do I keep leaving en: entries? I noticed your edit upon my edit for Half Jug of Wine, so i went ahead and began editing some of my other links to remove the en: piece. Is there a certain way we're supposed to edit these? What I do is click Edit page, if something needs a hyperlink, I go to the page I want hyperlinked, copy and paste it as a direct click link, and save the page. RE:Holly wreath chathead

Not sure how to message you back since you guys lack a response button, but I think this is how haha. I felt the other person was trolling me with his image, it looks so much like the old Holly Wreath as where my picture has a very nice view of the Wreath instead of a weird dude with dark hair and a troll Fu-man-chu.. it simply makes the Holly Wreath look EXTREMELY unappealing as were I feel it deserves a good picture. I have seen images of items that are not just from the actual "chathead" so I took a lot of time to edit my picture to fit. Then some weird picture gets posted after over mine with no response so I simply kept replacing it as I felt they were trolling me. If it was you, then you guys need a better system to contact us and say that we are doing something wrong prior to taking action. If its ONLY "Chatheads" that can be used I will take one with my lighter hair character, but the Wreath deserves MUCH MORE than its current lame troll picture currently with minimal detail to the updated item. Apologies for wasting the man hours trying to help ...but please, give it a better picture than the current one; it is wreched to a discontinued rare item. Much appreciated! -9HP (:

Per Wyld, I've checked the inventory icon for the Holy wrench in different graphic settings and there seems to be no change in its appearance from what I have uploaded. I updated it (and various other inventory icons) since I noticed there were a handful of items that looked distinctly different following the recent updates - with the Augmented noxious longbow and Amulet of souls' icon change being very apparent, for example. Who are you to judge what's unnecessary and what isn't? What makes you so dead certain that every player in this game understands that Woody is a reference to wood, instead of being named after the character from Toy Story? Hey there. Just asking about your reversion of my edit here. I won't revert since I see from the history that there has already been a minor edit war in that section. But can I ask why sources aren't needed here? I thought I was making a step towards neutrality by adding the fact tag since those types of statements should be backed up by sources. Is it simply because RunePass is part of the ongoing controversy regarding microtransactions, or?

Thanks for the heads up! I double checked some other pages and you are correct. The VisualEditor displays reference tags in normal script, which was misleading while making other changes to pages. The destroy message actually states that. "in broken form". This item does not just have a standard "Diango reclaim" destroy message. They customized it for this item only (and items like this, if there are others). Much like how the "can reclaim for a fee of x gold" custom destroy messages work.

But you are right I typed it from memory and we need to be more accurate than that. Exact, verbatim destroy message will be needed. I should not have put it in bold.

Thanks for moving it to a paragraph in the article body. (I wasn't sure how to say it in the article itself, so I quickly drafted it into the infobox. But you put it very succinctly.) Infoboxes are so rarely read anyway. This is an important warning. 2 million gold lost (almost). Tainted Shard?

Just curious as to why you changed the tainted shard edit that I made. I just used about 16 melee training dummies and not a single charge was added to my shard? Is it irrelevant due to the comment of "Some skilling activities do not provide charge"??

If an image is not necessary in your opinion that doesn't mean you should delete it...

I know that the 2018 Halloween event is safe, but there is a northeastern most spot inside the fenced area that doesn't protect against the seeker's explosion so without the picture, my contribution may seem like a lie to some people. Since you removed my image, a person might have to experiment with the tiles within the fenced place to see which ones are safe and testing the area is slower than simply looking at the image I uploaded before. How would you feel if I were to delete one of your useful pictures? A picture is worth a thousand words and I felt bad when I experienced so many players dying from the seeker. Will you remove my image again if I upload another one?

There are plenty of non-members that would not enjoy dying to the seeker repetitively and the slayer level is capped to 5 in the free-to-play worlds. There is an emotional difference when I see multiple deaths. I desire that the other players survive instead of trying to beat the seeker if it explodes afterwards.

Big shark file deletion

Hey, I just saw that you deleted the file I uploaded of a mounted big shark. You claimed it was a duplicate, but I cannot find it under file:mounted shark, file:big shark, file:big mounted shark, file:mounted big shark, or file:big shark mounted. I do see several isolated pictures of it mounted, which is dissimilar from what I uploaded, as well as aquarium mounted great white sharks, which are different. Proper nouns and articles

I removed the "the" from Shadow Gem Battleaxe because of the capitalisation (which I do find silly). I've done this for many other sites all around too. If it was called a "shadow gem battleaxe", it would certainly require an article, but the capitalisation makes it a proper noun, which removes the need of it. I'm sure there is some rule saying that you're allowed to use the articles for these kind of proper nouns, and I doubt the capitalisation was actually put there by Jagex to mean they're proper nouns, seeing how much they misuse their caps. I'm fine with the "the", but I will probably continue treating capitalised names as proper nouns, because otherwise they're just wrong. Thingummywut (talk) 21:05, 8 February 2019 (UTC)

RE:RE:Downscaled images - oopse (Updated)

Thanks for the reply!

I usually start with the quick-select tool to get rid of the bulk of the background, then I use a mix of the pen tool, lasso, and color range select to chip away at more. Finally, I finish it off with a 1px selection contraction (and sometimes an additional 1px selection feather).

Using this method I could go through a lot of images fairly quickly, with the quality that you see now. Doing it all with the lasso and a steady hand would probably yield a cleaner image, but would likely take 2-3x longer.

On the Black Mask page, the entire fourth paragraph describes its connection to the deity and on Xau-Tak's page there are numerous references to it's association with the mask. Time sprite message change

Saw your comment about the time sprite message change from "home in" to "close in". Someone, I think Mod Ryan, explained on stream that they did this just because they kept getting too many reports that there's a spelling error, thinking that it should say "hone in". I had made an edit to the page that I felt was inadequate because I have no knowledge of their previous failed Wikian nomination. For some reason it didn't go through and I reverted Salix of Prifddinas' (tagging to inform them as well) edit instead. I immediately went to undo it but you swooped in and got to it before me. Unexplained image reversions

Hi, I have been helping on the project to add transparencies to images, & I noticed that recently you have been reverting a number of images with transparency back to pre-transparency versions, but you don't explain what is unsatisfactory about the images you are reverting. Many of them do not seem to have anything noticably wrong with them. It would be very helpful to us image editors if you explain what you find wrong with an image that you feel needs to be reverted, so we can make sure the new edit fixes the problem. Thanks. Redirects

It's worth noting that there's an exception to the case-insensitive redirect system when the first letter of a word in a multiple word name is capitalized or lowercase and it's supposed to be the opposite. For some reason those don't automatically redirect to the proper pages. For example high priest orb, high Priest orb, High Priest Orb, etc. When they're used as page links in an article they'll come up as redlinks. Yes the capitalization is wrong and when it's capitalized properly it's fine, but I felt I should mention it anyway in case there's cases where the capitalization is inappropriate and using lowercase results in a redlink. For instance:

"The player will receive a 'frying pan (damaged)'"

While it might redirect fine in the search box, the capitalization isn't necessary in that context. Yet when it's not capitalized it results in a redlink, hence the redirect page is required. It doesn't apply to all-caps redirects because those shouldn't exist in articles, but for instances such as the above example they are in fact useful. Graystripe ^meow 23:22, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

Type for skins

Hi. I noticed your edit in Sheratan Orb, changing the type from "Magic Off-hands" to "Magic". The type is documented as follows: "Only for weapons and shields, hidden for other slots. Should be the weapon type the override is listed under when using advanced filters.". Where in the advanced filter is there type "Magic"? I only see "Magic Off-hands". Changes to elite sirenic

I'm concerned about all the changes you've made to the elite sirenic pages. They were cleaned up pretty well and removed every bit of unnecessary detail. You've just changed them and added extra detail again. Do you mind explaining or just leaving the pages alone. Pocket Sapphi 17:54, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

- extended variants. the information is all self-contained in a single line in code and the extra lines are totally unnecessary. they achieve the same thing, but only make the code look congested. if other aug pages are using the extended code, they should be changed to what I had as it achieves the same thing in far fewer characters. Btw, there is an issue with the third age link, but neither format fixes that.

- you've changed some singular noun grammar to what it would be if the items were plural. That needs completely reverting now and it's actually tedious to go through it after I completely rewrote the paragraphs on all those pages.

- along with this, you've just copied chunks of text and pasted it on the wrong pages. e.g. chaps info on the hauberk page.

- you've added missing disassembly info to some pages. What exactly is missing that you needed to put that?

- the death drop was a complete mess and I cleaned it up to a simple, yet informative sentence. You're making it confusing by adding far more info than needed. Examples aren't neded on item pages. If you really want, make a calculator on the general elite sirenic page. Too much detail which was already well-explained.

- the augmented gear template is factually incorrect. I rewrote the paragraph and removed the template from the pages for a reason. Now you've gone and reverted that change back to incorrect info. It's not as simple as rewriting the template. There's a need for a rewrite and potentially more info, and as it's not easy to fix at this time, I opted to make my own 'template' which I'm customising to specific pages to be 100% accurate.

and finally, after all those mistakes you've gone and tried to patch up some errors that you created, which was done so poorly as it barely fixed a fraction of the issues that the pages now have. Please just don't mess with pages that were perfectly fine. I can't move on to fix a different section of pages when the ones I've just worked on are being vandalised. 1. Third Age links to 'third age' (no caps), which then redirects to the actual page. In addition, some dyes are capitalised for no good reason, or vice versa.

2. Chaps is a plural noun, and annoyingly the only one of all augmentable t92 armours. This is one reason templates won't work, unless they're made more specific. 'They' was correct.

3. I see it. But that was left until I brought this to your attention, and could have been avoided altogether.

4. You're right. That's my mistake. I apologise.

5. I'll work or trying to get something done for the genral elite sirenic page, but having exmaples and data in the main item page is a bad thing. It makes it messy and adds too much detail when the exact mechanism for death drops were already explained well enough. Your new explanation isn't broad enough either. It's limited to wildy, yet other dangerous pvp scenarios exist. Obviously none of them need to be mentioned on the armour pages.

6. 'It cannot be made from a partially used component.' + 'it' vs 'they' + extra capitalisation.

It was presumptuous of me, sorry. I'm just hurt by the lack of care that went into the changes you made when I spent ages cleaning up the horrendous state of those pages to a clean, yet informative state, both fact-checking missing wiki info from across the community and making the code more readable for future edits. I'm a bit busy right now, but I hope you understand I want to go back and make those pages right before I move onto tectonic, or some means of a calculator on the general elite sirenic page. If I recall correctly, since I was using the cat method, I turned the Windows scaling from whatever it was set to (being a 1920x1080 15" laptop…) back down to 100%, and then turned RS's interface scaling up to maximum in order to get the highest possible resolution/detail. Was that not the right thing to do? If not, then the whole batch of images I uploaded that night probably need that tag :-( Micha (talk) 04:38, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

Sorry, I was going to message you myself, but how occupied.

While yes it is in the score, I believe it is that only due to Nomad calling it a god (again pov) and Sliske deeming it because what it is being called. But that wouldn't still make it a god, as the category tab (which is confusing) has them in powers. But Gielinor isn't powered by divine energy, like the gods. But in souls. It is argued that it can be a powerful being, like Hostilius the Autocrat, but he isn't stated to be as strong as god, not has it shown the ability to match one. I recall a retweet from Mod Raven that explained that Gielinor wasn't in a tier but more would be explained in runefest, explaining beings like Hostilius the Autocrat.

With that being said, we can safely put him off the list and as a false user, as there is an order that worship it also. I will see if I can find the retweet or can get a new answer. Duke Quael ^Talk 17:56, 23 February 2021 (UTC)

RE:Graphical updates thread

Thanks for noticing. I think the topic is mostly covered and the fringe cases will need to be considered on common sense/case by case basis. I will begin to gradually move images to relevant pages although it may take some time to figure out the dates/updates of the rework (but that can probably be filled at a later date). We should also gradually move the images to the discussed naming style i.e. (year) instead of old/old2, but not sure if I should just mass tag images or leave it for later. I use discord, I'm just not on the wiki server yet, but can join if needed to discuss some specifics in more detail.Mariobaryla (talk) 10:39, 24 April 2021 (UTC)
